25.01.2022 Vanessa flying the Ectara flag today. She and her 3yo Andy have been working hard at home and we’re glad it payed off!

22.01.2022 Transformation Tuesday! Ryker was brought to us just after being purchased by his current owner. He was skinny, covered in rain scald and stressed, and under saddle he was flighty and spooky. The photos hardly show the poor condition he was in. We were told by the previous owners he just wouldn’t put on weight due to being the thin TB type. 2.5 months later we have a relaxed, shiny, happy horse. The more he was fed, the quieter he got. We treated Ryker for ulcers, put h...im on a good feed programme and have seen the benefits under saddle. He now relaxes into a great frame and improves with each ride, teaching his beginner owner so much along the way. He is such a sweetheart and we are glad he’s found his happy place as we continue to build his muscle up! Thanks to his owner Lisa for trusting me with her baby! See more

20.01.2022 We had a massive day of lessons yesterday, practicing straightness and even pacing over poles and jumps. All riders did great and improved out of sight. It was great to see our two school horses Classico and Laura have a little ride together at the end of the day. Too bad Laura doesn’t pose for photos, Jai had to intervene!

18.01.2022 Jumping into the New Year like:

18.01.2022 Another great weekend at Ectara We got our gate installed on Saturday! It is a steel gate, coated in a rust paint, and was made by our wonderful farrier Nic Carraro, isn’t it amazing? So much of our developments are thanks to a great local community of riders and friends and we are very grateful to have them helping us bring our vision to life. Today I had an awesome day teaching at Matcham Valley Pony Club, it was a massive day and all the riders were so well mannered and rode super. Their brand new Ebb and Flow arena is incredible- congrats to them for working hard to keep Pony Club going strong in our zone!

17.01.2022 Rising 4yo Cosmo B (Cocaine Ego Z x Vivant) is home after being broken in at Kaden Weaver Young Performance Horses. Thanks Kaden for doing such a great job with him. Little Carl was purchased from Boree Equine at the start of last year and was turned out in a small herd to do some growing. He has matured into such a cool character with talent to burn, and I can’t wait for his future!

16.01.2022 Another awesome update for Hayden and Jiggy! From cranky and bucking to happy and confidently jumping around courses. Hard work pays off

16.01.2022 Another productive weekend! Some great results and ribbons from students at the Tall Timber’s Showjumping, a successful rally day at Matcham Valley PC on Sunday, along with the delivery and fitting-out of a new tack room space! Last week we also had some cross ties fitted which help complete our wash bays. A productive long weekend

13.01.2022 After many requests, we are finally doing a pre order of more Ectara hats, polos and jackets! Polos can be short or long sleeve, are breathable and sun safe. We also have navy work shirts available (not pictured) in men and women’s sizes - great for sun protection for riding, gardening etc! Jackets are soft, comfortable and a great fit. We’ve had lots of compliments on the colours and quality of our merchandise.... Message for info on sizing and pricing!

12.01.2022 Shout out to Hayden and Jiggy! When Hayden arrived with his two horses, he was too nervous to do more than walk on Jiggy, as a trot would result in being run into jumps, out of the arena or bucking until he fell off. We changed Jig’s feed and worked on his ground manners, while we focused Hayden on getting more confident on his other pony Shammy. With his new found confidence and Jiggys new manners, we now have a happy horse and rider. This is Hayden’s second lesson on Jig - watch this space!

10.01.2022 A great day of lessons today in preparation for the Tall Timbers showjumping competition tomorrow. Still had a moment to admire the lovely view. Good luck to all riders!

09.01.2022 TUESDAY TIPS Did you know? Horses drink an average of 30-50litres of water per day. They need constant access to fresh water to help keep their high fibre diet moving through the digestive system. Horses are also one of the few animals that cool down through sweating, so water (and salt!) is very important for replacing what is lost in sweat!... Enjoy these weekly tips to help improve your riding and horse management skills. There’s always so much to learn!

09.01.2022 Merry Christmas from the Ectara Team

09.01.2022 Here’s a happy story for a Monday night! The lovely Georgie moved her mare to Ectara to sell in order to purchase her dream horse. After her mare sold, her new horse was sold out from under her on the day she was supposed to put her deposit down. She was understandably heartbroken. Ectara partnered with Kaden Weaver Young Performance Horses in order to find Georgie the perfect horse. From the first ride on Oregon we knew they were a match, and he is now a happy new member of the Ectara family. We are so excited to see Georgie move up the levels in dressage with her super new partner! Congrats Georgie

07.01.2022 Definitely starting to miss shows! Hope everyone is staying safe in these crazy times

06.01.2022 Ectara’s resident show riders Vanessa and Sara both came home with wins at their respective shows today in open hunter, tb and breeder classes! Both had great lessons yesterday in preparation to put their best hooves forward. Well done to both riders and horses for their hard work!

06.01.2022 More camp fun!

05.01.2022 Today was the big day! We had Flexi Fibre installed in our arena, which provides a super supportive surface for any style of riding, and will really improve the going here for our long days of lessons and riding. When we were doing the initial planning for the property, I thought we would only be able to have a level grass area to ride on. To have ended up with a beautiful large sand arena with an amazing surface is a dream come true. We are spending tomorrow watering and rolling the surface for the week to come. Can’t wait for all lessons to resume Monday so we can put it to the test!

05.01.2022 School Holiday Camp Fun! Awesome day with some great riders at Ectara’s first holiday camp! Riders learned to walk a course, warm up and do a show jumping round, followed by an afternoon of sporting and bareback fun after lunch. All kids and ponies had a blast. Looking forward to next week!

01.01.2022 Horse riding lessons are great way for kids to stay active, learn responsibility and make lifelong friends! We cater for any level of rider and have school horses available. Send us a message to book in before the 2021 first term slots fill up!

01.01.2022 If anyone has visited, or come into contact with someone who has visited, the Northern Beaches and surrounding areas over the last few days we ask that you please do not visit our premises for lessons or rides, for the safety of all involved. A reminder to all visitors to use the hand wash and hand sanitisers provided at the stable block before and after using any of the facilities, and remain 1.5m away from others.

01.01.2022 We have a rare spot open for a lesson tomorrow at 11:45 - message us to book in. We have school horses available or bring your own, and get a ride in before the rain
