18.01.2022 In my (Eric Wolske) capacity as Community Development Officer, and continual engagement with Council, I thought it timely to share some more good news items th...at have come to fruition with the support of BVSC and the Coastal Management Team. BVSC Recreation & Leisure (R & L) are raising sections of the Lake Curalo walking track that are currently below the trigger height (sections that were inundated prior to the recent opening) R & L are also repairing sections of the track that were damaged during the fire period Environmental Team are doing a weed control and revegetation component along sections of the track which were damaged this will involve a community planting day if people want to be involved There will also be dune revegetation works at Aslings Beach and weed control done in autumn another opportunity for community planting day involvement. DPIE are conducting water sampling across all south coast estuaries over summer so there will be monthly sampling of Lake Curalo for a 6 month period (Nov-April) with estuary health report cards completed at the end. Some targeted sampling is planned to address community concerns over catchment inputs this will done in line with next sufficient rain event. We will sample different tributaries and drainage lines to see if any nutrients are coming in from the catchment and if so, where from. This is an action, included in the Coastal Management Program, that we will start on now. We promote the opportunities for community involvement and any have your say opportunities via council news (which people can sign up on an email list via the BVSC website) or via BVSC Facebook page. These are all good ways to stay in the loop with projects, events and opportunities. #begavalleyshirecouncil #visiteden
