24.01.2022 Fire breaks are a key factor in stopping the spread of wild fires in the local area. For several years we have been maintaining the walking paths and cutting fire breaks, unfortunately our lawn Tractor ’Big Red’ has gone to Tractor Heaven. We are looking for a new Tractor and are trying to raise funds to keeps the paths open and the area safe from fire.

19.01.2022 The new signs are ready to be mounted around Latchford

07.01.2022 UPDATE!!! Thank you sooo much to whoever did the litterpicking on these peices of land. Calling all litter pickers!!! We need your help! We have several sites in Latchford that need to be litter picked in preparation for wildflower projects. These are existing flower meadows that have been littered/fly tipped. All bags of rubbish can be collected by our wonderful WBC. The addresses are as follows ... 1. Corner of Newman st and broadbent ave. 2. Corner of tilston ave and Reynold st. 3. Corner of Whitley ave and broadbent ave. 4. Corner of Whitley ave and Richmond ave. 5. Behind Westy community Center on Bridgewater ave. 6. Tow path of the river Mersey to Westy park( 1 mile stretch of riverside views) We ask that all litter picks be done in respect of the Covid guidelines. This means that it can be done as part of family fitness. Safety... never pick up any litter with your hands! We recommend a good quality litter picker (see Amazon) and a bucket, you fill the bucket and the empty it into bin bags( why? Glass and needles can easily injure you when brushing along your leg) Sturdy footwear...smashed glass can be found in these areas. For any further information send us a message.

03.01.2022 Giant Hogweed is already growing in our area. Keep you eye out for it. It can be tackled now whilst vegetation is thin.
