06.01.2022 ACCESS BUS INFO: Hello Everyone and we are very happy to say hello 2021! With the upheaval of 2020 we failed to acknowledge or celebrate our 15th year Anniversary of this service’s operation. We will see what this year brings and hoping to plan for a belated morning tea for our 16th. The Towamba Community can be proud of this achievement of sustaining the service for so long through numerous changes and recent adversity.... If you have moved into the Towamba Valley, you may not know that the Towamba Community Access Bus Service is for our community, provided by your local school bus operators Ken Connell and Di Samuels of Eden Buses Pty Ltd. Services alternate each Wednesday, tripping to Merimbula one week and Bega the next. Great to enjoy a relaxing drive into town with the chance to socialise (at a COVID-Safe distance) and catch up with other passengers. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get out and meet other members of the community. If you need a bit of extra service while in town to get up a steep hill to the Doctors for example, just ask your friendly and helpful driver. Fares are subsidised making it an economical alternative transport solution, bearing in mind that the ongoing continuation of this service is reliant on patronage. We also thank the team at Bega Valley Community Transport. Hope to see you in 2021. COVID SAFE INFORMATION: What you need to know to be COVID Safe. If you wish to use the CAB you will need to phone ahead (the day prior) to pre-book a seat and answer some screening questions which will include: Are you feeling unwell? Have you recently travelled to any hot spot areas? Good hand hygiene, as well as social distancing will be expected and the wearing of face masks is strongly recommended. Do not use the bus if feeling even mildly unwell. For contact tracing purposes we recommend you use our Service NSW QR Code each time you board the bus. A timetable for the first half of 2021 is attached.
05.01.2022 Keep up to date on what's happening with the latest COVID-19 recommendations on public transport by checking out our pinned post which is updated regularly. Latest info added today: 31/8/20 Further recommendations are coming through from Transport NSW around the wearing of masks.... Coming soon you will see signage on our dedicated school runs saying ‘Please wear a face mask’ and green dot ‘sit here’ stickers This is because of the strong recommendation from NSW Health for people over the age of 12 to wear a face mask when physical distancing is not possible. There will also be new posters to remind our customers to stay home if they’re sick, to cough into their elbow, physically distance from other customers and if they can’t, to wear a face mask. For information from NSW Health about face masks go to https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/face-masks
04.01.2022 It’s back to school time this week and we wish to remind you of the following key messages from the NSW Centre for Road Safety Motorists: You must slow down to 40km/h when bus lights flash. ... Lights flash on buses to warn motorists that buses are picking up and dropping off children. You must not overtake or pass a bus with flashing lights at more than 40km/h. o You can help keep children safe by: Slowing down to 40km/h when bus lights are flashing o Looking out for children crossing the road near bus stops, in school zones or along bus routes o Giving way to buses when they merge back into traffic. Parents: Parents have an important part to play in keeping children safe around roads. Never drop off or meet your child on the opposite side of the road to the bus stop and call them across the road. Always drop them off or meet them on the same side of the road as the bus stop. Remind your children to always wait until the bus has gone before choosing a safe place to cross the road. For more information visit: https://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au//bus-flashing-ligh
