24.01.2022 The last day of Vacation Care saw the Schoolies visit Tygum Park where they climbed the high net, rode the spinning top and running races through the sand - all increasing physical and gross motor development. Their was a variety of wildlife to be found, and the children enjoyed feeding the swans, ducks and birds, building upon interest of animals in our environments. We experimented with mixing mentos and soft drink, the Schoolies hypothesising the outcome of mixing the two ingredients together. Unfortunately the experiment did not fizz and explode as expected, teaching trial and error. We ended our day with a sausage sizzle lunch and some treats, enjoying each other’s company as we sat as a group to eat and converse.

21.01.2022 Today was Silly photo day for Vacation Care. We incorporated crazy hair, dress ups as well as props and frames that were made during yesterday’s activities to create our photos. This activity extended into dramatic play, as the children used their imaginations to take on different characters with their new hairstyles and costumes.

20.01.2022 A reminder that we are closed Monday, 5 October for the Queen’s Birthday public holiday. We wish everyone a safe and relaxing long weekend.

20.01.2022 As we near the end of 2020, we are beginning to look at our children’s end of year celebrations. At Edens Landing Childrens Centre we are busily making plans to celebrate your child’s achievements for the year. We are pleased to let our families know that we will be organising an end of year celebration for the children and families. Our celebrations this year will look different from previous years due to COVID and QLD health restrictions. This year we will be celebrating ou...r Christmas concert on Saturday, 12th December 2020 between 9am -12pm. This is an opportunity for our educators and families to come together to celebrate your child’s achievement throughout the year. The concert performances will be staggered to help support the restrictions placed on us. Please see invitation with the times. We ask families to only be in attendance at the times listed for each room to ensure social distancing. We have held off as long as we can hoping we can run our event as per every year, but we have had to implement some strategies to comply with Qld health restrictions, including: maximum attendance is 2 ADULTS only per child/ren. This will ensure we meet social distancing requirements of the venue families will be positioned apart from each other and must remain seated at all times food will be provided in the shape of a snack box to be taken home on departure Minimal activities provided this year. Once your child has performed we ask that you move from the area as directed to participate in an activity and then on departure to collect your snack box and child’s/ren present from Santa’s helper. Unfortunately we have no choice in limiting the number of adults as we must comply with the 1.2metres social distancing. The centre has limited space which therefore limits us to the number of adults able to attend. We look forward to seeing you at our modified Christmas Concert to help us have some fun and celebrate the crazy year we have all had. Please complete the attendance slip on the letters issued tomorrow of who is attending from each family, and return as soon as possible or before Friday, 4th December, 2020 for the catering and seating arrangements. Tickets will be provided for entry so please ensure you write the correct names of attendees. See more

19.01.2022 Miss Gina trialled a new menu item today - Pesto chicken with pasta. Gina made the pesto sauce from scratch (with some hidden veggies too), and served with juicy chicken breast and spiral pasta. The children came back for seconds and thirds! It is important your child has nutritious food to give your child all the nutrients their bodies need to grow, and to develop and reach their physical and mental potential. We ensure our menus are nutritionally balances to provide a healthy diet.

15.01.2022 Our monthly Abecedarian learning pack winner is Elexia! Miss Bek sat down with Elexia and mum Rosie, and explained our Abecedarian Approach - a set of evidence-based teaching and learning strategies for early childhood educators and parents to use with children from birth to five. Research has shown that 3a delivers enhanced educational outcomes by enriching and enhancing educator and parent practice both before and after a child starts school. Elexia was given a learning game and book that built on her recognition and language acquisition of facial features as well as information and tips on the four Abecedarian elements - enriched caregiving, language as priority, learning games and conversational reading. We look forward to receiving an update on Elexia’s Abecedarian learning journey at home.

10.01.2022 Children were able to go for nature walk just along the bridge this was a great opportunity to see insects and creatures and allows the children to learn more about them, where they live, what they eat and what kind of weather they like. Children used nature to inspire their painting as it focuses their attention and they can take in the details of things around them. It was a peaceful, reflective experience for the children well that was until they wanted to race up and down the bridge

06.01.2022 Yesterday, the Schoolies headed to Mount Warren Lanes to engage in some ten pin bowling. During this experience, the children learned about turn taking, building social skills and developing good sportsmanship. After two games, we enjoyed some lunch, enjoying each other’s company and some great food.

04.01.2022 Today the schoolies got actively involved on their excursion to the Neilson marine mates. The schoolies engaged with the shark and stingrays being able to venture into water, touch, give belly rubs and learn about the different skins the sharks and stingrays have. We had an unforgettable day. Through this experience, the children gained respect and knowledge of the natural environment, learning about how to care for animals in our oceans.

04.01.2022 Today we had a wonderful time exploring two locations near our centre. We bagan our journey at the tennis courts kicking, throwing and placing balls in the fence. While there a ride on mower caught the children's attention an immediate reaction of the children running to the fence to see the grass been chopped stopped the ball play for a short while. We thought it would a great idea to continue our adventure heading to a new area, as we walked down the path we looked around a...t the new scenery wondering where we would be going. As we walked down the path we began to see our destination a creek. While at the creek we investigated the area picking flowers, taking our shoes off and placing our feet in the water to kick and splash for those who couldn't reach laying on our bellies and placing our hands in the water worked just as well, listened to the sounds of small rocks been thrown in the water and watched and leaves floated from one side of the creek to other. Bush kindy is a great way for the children to explore and connect with the natural environment, learn new sights and sounds and understand the importance of looking after the environment that surrounds the centre. 04.01.2022 The Possum’s engaged in painting today, using leaves as natural paintbrushes. The children brushed and stroked the paint covered leaves across the paper, swiping and dotting as they explored mark making. Natural materials have a sensory benefit. They have different textures, sizes, colours and smells. They provide more tactile stimulation to children to help them improve their hand/finger awareness and coordination.

02.01.2022 At Edens Landing Childrens Centre, our Emus make sure they are practising sunsafety everyday, by minimising our time spent in the outdoor environment during peak UV periods and wearing a sun safe broad brimmed hat (provided by the centre).
