23.01.2022 Last year, 1,759 Queensland children were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. More than half of these children went into DKA*, a dangerous complication of undiagnos...ed type 1 diabetes. This #WorldDiabetesDay, we want you to know the four signs of type 1 diabetes toilet (frequent urination or bedwetting), thirsty (always asking for fluids), tired (adequate sleep but still tired) and thinner (losing weight). If your child has one or more of these symptoms urgently ask your GP for a finger-prick blood glucose test. It’s easy, fast and could save your child’s life. *Diabetic ketoacidosis #WDD2020 #Queensland #children #DKA #type1diabetes #4Ts https://www.childrens.health.qld.gov.au/service-endocrinol/ See more

09.01.2022 Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) rule of the week. During weeks 9 and 10, students will be meeting their new teachers and learning about what 2021 will look like for them when they return to school. During this time, student may feel added anxiety about meeting new teachers, moving classrooms and having to get to know the different students in their new class. Reminding students of the things that stay the same and letting them know that consistency will continue arou...nd expectations is helpful to during times of added anxiety. Teachers will be reinforcing the school expectations (CC says I am safe, I am Respectful, I am a Learner) and classroom rules as the year draws to a close, along with revisiting the skills and strategies from our Zones of Regulation program to support all students with a seamless transition to 2021 classes. 06.01.2022 Do you have fixed mindset or a growth mindset? You've probably heard a bit about #growthmindset in recent years and how important it is for our children. Which ...is of course true but perhaps the discussion we should be having is how we as parents can have a growth mindset because like it or not, children learn everything from us. If you want to understand what a growth mindset is and then learn how to model that to your children, check out this video from Dr Justin Coulson's Happy Families: https://parenttv.com//do-you-have-a-fixed-mindset-or-a-gr/
