06.01.2022 Some things I have realized over the years and always try to remember: 1. Horses dont get broke at home. Be brave and enter! 2. EVERY disappointment at the sh...ow is a learning opportunity..... Be humble, be open to change. 3. Everyone gets nervous. Everyone has bad days. Everyone makes mistakes. Literally: EVERYONE! 4. Dont watch others in the warmup ring and start changing what you have been doing - if you see something cool or you want to step up your game thats homework for after the show! 5. When we run out of knowledge, we often punish our horses. Seek help instead. 6. Be a competitor! But be a horseman first. There is always someone watching who sees you as a role model. 7. Supporting your fellow competitors and engaging with people will enrich your show life. 8. Know the rules of competition! Make sure your attire and tack is legal. Read the rule book, ask questions and be well prepared. 9. Have FUN, dont sweat the small stuff! See more

06.01.2022 Very informative!

05.01.2022 On holidays untill Sept 7th, still taking bookings for pet sitting and Riding lessons on my return. Thank you

05.01.2022 RING ETIQUETTE : Smile - yes, even if you lose. Congratulate your fellow competitors Be polite ... Be nice Do not address the judge - any questions must be directed through the steward or ringmaster "You get what you get and dont get upset." - refer to points one and two. Yes, even if you "deserved" to win. Ensure your horse is offered water and feed throughout the day NEVER take out your frustrations on your horse - he wasnt going around with an empty saddle. The fault lies with YOU. Dont refuse ribbons or prizes - if you wish to donate then back do it AFTER the event and approach the secretarys office - be discreet so as to not appear ungrateful or "holier than thou". Thank the sponsors - write a small note to the sponsor and organising committee - without them, no show. Do not park on top of other people - a sure fire way to make enemies and cause accidents Do not get on Facebook or the old grapevine and trash the judges / competition / show committee/ small child with a balloon that upset your horse - suck it up. Its called dignity. LOOK UP - watch where you are going to avoid domestics in the ring Appreciate it if your horsey (or more likely non horsey ) mum / friend / significant other / Aunty came to the show to support you. Treat them right or next time you wont have any help at all. Above all, enjoy, and remember, you take the best horse home no matter the outcome on the day. - have fun! Youre there to show off how awesome your horse is so relax and enjoy yourself - shows are great for catching up with old friends, but also make new friends! - if you see someone struggling, offer to help them, even if its just giving them a bit of a pep talk before they go into their class - be encouraging, especially to younger riders or people who are new to showing - everyone has bad day and so do horses, if this happens to you thats ok, theres always going to be another show. Do not throw a tantrum if you miss a class. You are responsible for getting yourself to the right place at the right time. Clarify the ring, timing of lunches etc with the organising committee if need be but if things change and you miss the class dont take it out on them.

02.01.2022 Cut any rings of plastic before putting them into the rubbish, This will stop them from getting stuck around necks of birds etc. I have been doing this for year...s, dont even think about it, I just automatically do it! below is a photo of the plastic ring you get on milk bottles. Edit: . Unfortunately our council said that lids are a different plastic to bottles and can not be recycled (Check with your local council to see what they would like you to do with the lids/rings, as it seems to be different for each council)

01.01.2022 They always make us laugh !
