25.01.2022 The expansive, coastal wilderness of the Cape to Cape track in Australia’s southwest offers walkers an immersive experience, with exciting diversity. The trail traverses beaches, coastal heath, rock formations, dense Karri forest, banksia and melaleuca woodlands, granite outcrops and limestone ridges. I’m participating in the Ecotourism Australia global Eco Asia-Pacific Tourism Conference from 1-3 December. The Margaret River Region Australia's South West Trails WA Explore Parks WA

24.01.2022 Incomparable hiking ... in the Kalbarri National Park. - - Every year (usually), 9 million people make a big fuss about Australia. They travel long distances (sometimes the longest flights they will ever take in their lives) to spend a few weeks in our extraordinary natural environments. Australia is their 'dream' destination. ... We are facing another year of limited; if any, international travel. Which is a bummer! But we've got WA ... and Australia... to ourselves!!! Whether you do it with us, at Edgewalkers, with another local company, or on your own, this could be the year you find out what all the fuss is about... and discover afresh the dream destination you live in. 16.01.2022 ‘Regenerative is the new sustainable’ - - Regenerative is, in effect, the word of the hour in ecotourism. -... - According to ‘conscious travel’ scholar and consultant, Anna Pollock, even the best practices in sustainability will only lead to a ‘slow-down in our current passage to catastrophe’. - With 70 % of visitors to Australia stating that they are coming here to spend time at a natural location, there is effectively, no tourism industry in Australia without a pristine and well protected natural world. Regeneration is the optimal goal. - - Regenerative tourism partners with nature so that it reflects our part in this living system. Regenerative tourism asks the questions: How can a destination flourish? How can we contribute to a destination & all of its inhabitants (including the nonhuman ones) thriving? - - Should every tourism business be an ecotourism business? To get our ecotourism accreditation is our goal in 2021. 13.01.2022 The 2020 Global Asia-Pacific Ecotourism Conference was held in Margaret River at the beginning of December 2020. Speakers and participants represented all areas of the tourism industry in the region, mainly Australia. There were representatives from state and local governments, regional tourism organisations, relevant government departments, tour operators of all sizes and forms; and, some academics. Everyone present was passionate. Everything shared & discussed was importan...t. However, there were 3 messages that really stood out. 1. Trails and ‘trail towns’ on the rise 2. Regenerative is the new sustainable 3. It costs more to do nothing! As the popularity of human-powered tourism increases and more and more people.... 06.01.2022 My aunties and older cousins took us walking through the bush, where we gathered the berries and yams, collected gum and picked the sweet nectar from the flowers of certain trees and plants when they were in season. Even today, the seasons play a vital role in medicine, as some plants are only available after the rainy season or need fire to regrow. We were taught to just collect what we needed at that particular time; there is no need to cut an entire tree when we simply require a handful o leaves. I also learnt that is was very important not to trespass on another groups area without their permission. - - Vivienne Hansen - in Noongar Bush Medicine - Medicinal Plants of the southwest of Western Australia @uwapublishing
