21.01.2022 The Society of Editors professional development meeting date has been changed. After telling the world that it would be held on March 13, we realised that it clashed with Festival of Golden Words, starting the following morning in Beaconsfield. So please note that the development evening discussing manuscript assessment - will now be on March 27. And Margaret has put on her graphic design cap to prepare the flyer below for the event. See you there!

05.01.2022 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear members As you may recall, in November last year the members of Australias editing societies voted for IPEd to be restructured into a single national body with direct individual membership. This wont happen overnight, but a working party has been formed to work through the steps involved. I would like to invite you to represent Tasmania and the interests of Tasmanian editors on that working party. It meets monthly by teleconference, curre...ntly at 4pm on the first Saturday of the month. Im also calling for a volunteer to take over from me as Tasmanias representative on IPEd Council. Council also meets once a month by teleconference currently from 10.30am to about 12.30pm on the first Sunday of the month. As IPEd is a company limited by guarantee, councillors are directors of the company, and must act in the interests of the company rather than its constituent societies. Both roles provide opportunities to network at a national level, and both come with the expectation that you will act as a conduit for information between the societys executive and the council/working party: if youre interested in more details please let me know. Please consider whether you can spare the time to contribute to your profession in either (or both!) of these capacities. Regards, Elizabeth Spiegel AE President, Society of Editors (Tasmania) Inc
