22.01.2022 **Jacci Williams, ERCKWA Board Member - Vice Chairman** On behalf of the ERCKWA Board and all our stakeholders, I would like to extend our sincere gratitude and thanks to Jacci Williams. At the ERCKWA Annual General Meeting and having completed her second and final three year term, Jacci stepped down from the ERCKWA Inc. Board. For those who are unaware, Jacci has had a long-standing association with our organisation, which commenced as a camp leader in 2000, 20 years ago! ...As a long serving, respected and valued member of the ERCKWA community, Jacci has filled wide and varied roles and done so with much energy and commitment. From volunteering to Quiz Night MC to fund raising to Formation Committee Chair to Board member if theres anyone whos gone close to doing it all in our 30+ years its been Jacci. And she has done so tirelessly and without fuss or fanfare, which has won her much admiration along the way. In an organisations such as ours, it often becomes a case of calling on our people to on occasions roll-up the sleeves and assist with management issues or events and Jacci has rarely refused a request. She has provided valuable insights around the board room table and often challenged our approach and thinking when we were firmly in a group think mode. In all shes done the characteristics which have shone the most are the professionalism with which she tackles tasks and her empathetic manner. People like Jacci are difficult to replace, although Im hopeful shell retain an involvement in ERCKWA in some way. 20.01.2022 ***IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT*** Dear Eddie Rice family, We care deeply about the well-being of our community and with all the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the tough decision to extend cancellations through to our July programs.... In accordance with the latest recommendations from the government, our office will remain closed and where possible our staff will be working from home during this time. Lastly, wed like to thank all those involved with the Eddie Rice Campers Hampers drive we carried out last week. Each child who was scheduled to go on the April program was given a large 90l storage box FULL of food and essential items, PLUS an activities tub, PLUS $100 worth of gift cards, PLUS Telethon Community Cinemas donated stock of water, candy, soft drink, sausages and bread. It was an incredible success and the families really appreciated having the extra support during this difficult time. Here are some words of thanks from the families to everyone who made this drive happen. Thankyou so so very very much what a lovely hamper! 11.01.2022 HAMPER DONATIONS - Supporting ERCKWA Families Unfortunately due to the current COVID-19 situation we have had to cancel our upcoming respite programs BUT in true Eddie Rice spirit the organisation would like to offer the families who have missed out on respite a hamper for them and the children. We have already reached out to the families for suggestions of items that would be useful. Hopefully these hampers will offer support and alleviate some pressures during this diffic...ult time. We are calling on our community, those who would like to get involved and donate items (see list attached) or cash so we may purchase items needed. At this stage we are focusing on the families who were scheduled on our April and May programs however should the support take off and we have an overflow of items/funds our aim is to reach more Eddie Rice families. We have also engaged with the volunteer leaders who were scheduled on those programs to get behind this initiative and personalise these hampers Eddie Rice style. 09.01.2022 Attention Edmund Rice Community Regrettably, I inform you that Ira Gibbs has resigned from the Edmund Rice Camps for Kids WA Inc. (ERCKWA) Board. A Committed and enthusiastic member of our Board for four years, Ira has worked diligently to not only maintain the high standards we set around our finance functions but has managed to improve them even further. For personal reasons, Ira informed me in August that she no longer felt able to contribute to the organisation to the deg...ree she felt necessary. Although in true form, she proceeded to continue providing support to ERCKWA until a replacement Treasurer was appointed in October a sign of great character and diligence. Ira has been an excellent member of the Board, contributing significantly to strategic discussions, as well as operational best practice. Working closely with our CEO Kevin Knapp, Ira has been ever conscious of the financial obstacles we face as a not-for-profit organisation, particular during the recent volatile eight month period. As a result, we have emerged in a position of financial strength. Ira has made an invaluable contribution to our organisation and will be missed. 05.01.2022 Edmund Rice Camps WA Eddie on the Road Programme Facilitator The Eddie on the Road Programme (EOTR) delivers Edmund Rice camp experiences to remote and regional Western Au stralia. With the generous support of Lotterywest, ERCKWA is in a position to increase the number of EOTR programmes in 2021 and 2022 and provide resources to establish/secure local business and community support for the purpose of funding the programme well into the future. ERCKWA has establishing tw...o project roles using the Lotterywest grant to help achieve the successful delivery of an expanded EOTR programme and secure regional and remote partnerships to provide the necessary cash and in kind support for the future of EOTR. Both the EOTR Programme Development and Strategy Manager role and the EOTR Programme Facilitator roles are contracted positions that are funded through the Lotterywest Grant for a period of two years. I am delighted to announce the appointment of Rebecca (Bec) Hicks as the Programme Facilitator for the EOTR Programme. Bec brings a wealth of knowledge about Edmund Rice to the role having been a volunteer for many years. Bec has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from UWA and has recently completed a Masters in International Development also at UWA. Her skills as well as her passion for Edmund Rice Camps make her a great fit for this role and I am looking forward to working with Bec to deliver a successful and expanded EOTR programme into the future. Initially the role will involve an in depth review of the EOTR Programme to date with recommendations to be made as to how best to proceed, especially following the disrupted 2020 season due to Covid 19. The review period will be followed by a planning phase and then a delivery component in 2021 with the engagement and involvement of Eddie Rice Leaders. I am sure you will join me in congratulating Bec on her role and providing her with the support she needs along the way. 02.01.2022 Thank you to Year 6 at Aquinas College ! I recently had the privilege of attending the Aquinas College Junior School Assembly. As well as witnessing the significant musical talents of the students and the leadership, community and academic achievements, I received a significant donation for Eddie Rice Camps from the Year 6 cohort. Over $1000 was raised by the students in Year 6 which is a truly amazing effort.
