23.01.2022 It is encouraging to see Chiara Porro, Australia’s representative to the Holy See, "raising the calls and concerns of Pacific leaders outside of our region around the impacts of climate change. Thank you!
21.01.2022 Indigenous people must have justice - Black Lives Matter Of course this year we have also seen the return to prominence of the Black Lives Matter movement. Yet as we know, this is not just an issue for the United States. Right here in Australia, 439 indigenous people have died in police custody - and not one single person has been successfully prosecuted for any of these deaths. To challenge this great injustice this is the reason we at the ERC have developed the Let’s Talk program. Find out how you can support the program. https://www.erc.org.au/covid_19_appeal

21.01.2022 The Justice and Peace Office of the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney, Jesuit Refugee Service Australia, and Nangami have organised a webinar exploring a time for grace. The pandemic has already revealed much about who we are as a nation; where our weaknesses are, where we have let each other down, and where we put all those who have little to offer us or our economy. COVID-19 has thrown into stark relief the policies and practices that no longer work to keep us safe and well. But within the pain and the struggle and sometimes shame we believe this moment is also a Time for Grace. A time to extend to the most vulnerable and the most powerful, a moment to change our hearts, minds and practice. The event is free but you must register to get the Zoom link.

13.01.2022 "Truth-telling" is a key dimension of our "Uluru Statement from the Heart". So might the home-truths apply equally here in Australia, of this profound analysis of the US today by Princeton Uni's Prof. Eddie Glaude? Please share this post widely, AND let us know the parallels you perceive for the peoples of these lands we call Australia. Link for video ==>> https://youtu.be/QKiB0APdxTo
13.01.2022 Two days before the UN Climate Ambition Summit, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has warned that rich countries, including Australia, will miss a key promise they made to the poor world on the climate crisis by failing to provide the money necessary for them to cope with its effects, damaging the prospects for global action. 07.01.2022 It would seem that most people would prefer a society based on care rather than profit and yearn for work that serves their higher needs. We need to acknowledge that a hunger for respect, love, generosity and a sense of higher purpose to their lives is something many theories overlook.
