03.01.2022 Everyone agrees, Grace is an incredible girl. In 2017, we asked the public for ideas on what we should name a Tunnel Boring Machine which would create one of th...e tunnels for the METRONET Forrestfield-Airport Link. Grace’s classmates at Edney Primary School thought it should be named after their brave friend. It was a great idea. Grace was nominated in 2017 while she was undergoing treatment for leukaemia. Her classmates said she was the toughest person they knew, exactly what the TBM needed to be to bore through the earth. Looking back now, it would be difficult to think of a more suitable name. TBM Grace went through some hard places. But inch by inch, metre by metre - TBM Grace kept moving forward. And just last month, after years of toil, TBM Grace emerged into the light at Bayswater. Conquering a truly epic journey. TBM Grace has proven herself worthy of the name Grace.
