24.01.2022 Range of Movement. My curiosity is in the variability we can offer. Moving the body is like articulating an orchestra and speaking in musical language just makes sense to me. Legato and staccato are words used worldwide in music to call out very different experiences, smoothness and connection vs sharpness and separation. The proposed task here was to display one's range of legato and staccato. I wanted them to feel how far they could go towards one or the other direction and... think of how many shades they can find within that range. I believe that it is more than a speculative work. In my experience, we usually look at bigger ranges, extremes, places were it is so evident what is happening. Our bodies scream at us about the experience and as when we scream to much, our voice may 'go away', our body may 'urge a break'. And so, I thought, what about looking at the range of movement we do have and start to observe and/or expand the qualities within and not just blindly push our structural limitations? __________________ Reminder! 24.01.2022 Here is the last task of this 5 week cycle. For the first 4 weeks, at the end of each class, they wrote a keyword in regards to their session's experience behind a photo of the previous cycle. The photos used were always the same but given randomly so to create a mix of 10-12 words behind each photo and collecting keywords for different participants.... During the sessions of the last week we played with them. We had to create a sentence using most of them and it had to be done in a constraint time frame. Thank you to all those curios minds who trained with me. _________ Following are the words behind the photos for you to try and play. A: cha cha haha, movement, clearer, flowing, pizza, energised, space, focus!!, fun :), pivot B: happy, gentle, full, accomplishment, better, balance, ibex, trust, beat, positioning, catch, unpredictable C: loose, abstraction, strong and struggling, content, invisible/forgotten, graceful, alignment, ta-tut, rhythm, dance!, flow, back on!, persistence D: heart racing!, spiral, relax, break, articulate, rhythm, help, sway, quick, leverage, spiral cycle, unique E: reconsider, clockwork, lean, concentrate transition, grounded, experiment, strong, trusting, long spiral, observation, hips, unconscious flow, fleximotion F: helix, relief, moon, loosen-up!, shift, free, try, response, ripple, focus, persist What do you come up with? _________ #fightingmonkey_practice #fightingmonkey_games #fightingmonkey #inspirebyfmwitheduardo #agelessathleticism #elasticbodyplasticbrain

24.01.2022 Thank you to those ones who bravely joins me in a movement journey of discovery in this simple space. We explore, we try, we play, we struggle, we are rough, we are gentle, we follow, we lead, we collaborate, we compete, we listen and observe. We remind ourselves that being human is not matter of linearity, frames and definitions. We are blurry, constantly changing and developing living organisms. This is a sample of what we have done in the last 5 weeks.... Time and space is what I try to offer, limiting instructions and fostering problem solving and questioning. It is not easy but please keep in mind that learning and following instructions are two different practices. Soon a new cycle. For now, a big hug! Dean Emily Fabian Sue Nadia Max

18.01.2022 This is the work of Armando. Armando is a creative and brave videographer. He did not know what to expect and he was able to put together a video that I believe expresses quite well our group session's values. We look for challenges, to better understand ourselves and feel inspired. I try to create a space where everyone feels welcomed and comfortable to try and step into the uncomfortable.... Dean Philp, Max Lorenzin and Nadia Lorenzin, thank you once again for bringing your energy to the sessions. And thank you to all my students who would have liked to be there. _________________ #fightingmonkey #fightingmonkey_practice #fightingmonkey_rootlessroot #fightingmonkey_9speedtool #fightingmonkey_practiceball #fightingmonkey_games #agelessathleticism #elasticbodyplasticbrain

17.01.2022 FEET According to books, the human foot is a complex structure containing 26 bones, 33 joints and more than a hundred muscles, tendons and ligaments. Texts are telling us so much about them and so little I can find about the qualities they can display. I have observed people moving for a little while but it is just in the last years that I have paid attention to the work of the feet. I find it interesting, I have been moving on my feet for so long and still it happens that I ...almost forget about them. Feet are our first point of contact with the ground for most of our awaken time. Think of standing, running, dancing, fighting..going to a cafe with your friends. When I look at my kids, respectively 5 and 1.5 years old, I see feet that can barely stay still, so curious and excited about life. They are like spring boards that let the kids jump and explore. Then I look at older humans, sometimes just 30 years old and what I often see is that the feet seems like stuck in the mud, the bounciness has faded away and.. I’d rather keep my feet bouncy for a little longer. Ageing is inevitable, being stuck in the mud is not. This video was taken during one of my latest classes and you can see what feet willing to stay curious, explore and play can do. Some of those feet are over 70 years old, some under 40 years old, keep moving, stay engaged and enjoy what you do. Build ageless feet. Feet, feet, feet. How many different feet you meet! Slow feet Quick feet Well feet Sick feet Up feet Down feet Here come[..] AGELESS FEET! ________ #fightingmonkey_practice #fightingmonkey_games #fightingmonkey_practiceball #agelessathleticism #agelessfeet #elasticbodyplasticbrain #adelaide

15.01.2022 It is strength. This is a strength display that I don't get to see often and I believe has an immense value for everyone. She is visually impaired and this task is incredibly complex. As you can see, finding a balanced arrangement of the sticks is a challenge in itself when you can't rely on your vision.... But, she keeps trying. We spent about half of the session on this, she wanted to, she does not give up easily. She keeps trying. The smile on her face gives me the confidence in her ability to sustain the potential frustration of a simple yet not easy task as building and lifting a sticks formation. She keeps trying. She just had a very delicate surgery intervention on one of her eyes. From my understanding a little part of living material has been replaced by an artificial one. It won't give her vision back but it will help to not overcomplicate things behind the eye. Still, she keeps trying. We rely on our vision so much, still we are capable to find balance and balance things. We usually blend signals from different systems including vision in order to gather information about self-movement and body position but when it is not available to us, we are still able to modulate the information flow and rearrange our structure in order to make sense of our perception. __________________ If you want to try. Simply close your eyes, that some light passes through your eye lids is ok, and gather 4 sticks. Build a "diapason" alike shape and take it with you from the ground up to standing holding it only from the sides of the bottom stick. Keep trying. Enjoy it. __________________ #fightingmonkey #fightingmonkey_practice #fightingmonkey_games #fightingmonkey_woodensticks #agelessathleticism #elasticbodyplasticbrain

12.01.2022 Metal From Greek metallon metal, ore - what is got by mining I have played with it for a little while and I have loved the learning curve. The 9 Speed Tool is a call for speed and so I initially bit it off that way. I thought that the more aggressive I was, the better, I could feel my body get ripped..apart. But I felt that this was taking me towards trouble so I decided to use metal to soften my structure.... Nowadays when I play with the 9 Speedtool I try to fall in love with it again and again. I approach it gently, respectfully. I look for curves, pleasant variabilities, I imagine to soften the sharp corners that I have built over time. I aim to create smoother connections, liberate the ways from as many disturbances I can. Creating a space for coexisting qualities is something that intrigues me. We tend to negate what does not align with our ideas and strongly attach to what we supposedly know. We label those as right and wrong, good and bad. But, there may be an alternative to monotone, linear decision making. _______________ #fightingmonkey_practice #fightingmonkey_9speedtool #fightingmonkey #9speedtool #agelessathleticism #elasticbodyplasticbrain

09.01.2022 I was planning and creating content for the upcoming 5 week cycle of group classes (bookings at https://www.trybooking.com/BKWXX). I do incorporate work around the cross and meanwhile I was playing our a pattern, this came to mind. My thoughts went straight to @lukesebastiani and his tennis. We have recenlty talked about one-handed backhand in tennis and this coordination seems to make sense to me. If you're into tennis, this may be an idea to practice with. I am curious to h...ear from tennis players and it feels. For more Tennis specific training, contact @adelaidetennisacademy. They are ahead of the game bringing innovative tools and idea for the development of the contemporary tennis player. If a broader development is what you are after, I will be happy to support you. 07.01.2022 "According to recent findings in the field of brain research, it is estimated that 50% of the cortex is involved in visual function. Although their findings support the hypothesis of visual dominance as a universal characteristic of all languages, they found no evidence of a fixed hierarchy of the other for senses, in contrast to the previous claims." From www.mpg.de/8849014/hierarchy-senses... Here we have someone who is legally blind wearing a blindfold mask to emulate complete darkness. I found that when moving without relying on vision, the overall tensions within the human structure raises. Fear? Sense of being lost? It is a natural reaction, not knowing what may happen can turn on our defensive system way too loud. I believe that getting confident with the ground, falling, rolling and regular exposure to obstacles and unexpected difficulties can rise the confidence of someone with vision impairment. Offering interactive challenges is fundamental in my opinion to build awareness and better the relationship with the unknown that life presents. This is my main focus when working with Zuzia and her progress is a delight to witness. ______ #fightingmonkey_practice #agelessathleticism #elasticbodyplasticbrain #visionimpaired #Adelaide
