21.01.2022 Numerical values and BIDMAS can be pretty tricky for students to navigate -- thankfully, Ivan has something a little unconventional up his sleeve to help! He's used the wonderful tool of Mario Kart to help his student assign meaning to the work he's doing, and enrich his understanding by linking it to something he already knows!

15.01.2022 PROGRAM LAUNCH We are excited to announce the launch of our brand new short term Intensive Literacy Course! This course will take place over the duration of Term 3, with three 45 minute sessions occurring each week. These tutorials are scheduled for MONDAYS, TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS at 9am with Naomi. 09.01.2022 After MANY hours of hard work, we are so excited to showcase our very first Writing Process pack! This pack contains a number of resources used in our writing lessons as part of our Academic Intervention Literacy tuition programs. Although this first set is headed to one of our online students, there are exciting things in the works for future packs. Watch this space!

09.01.2022 The written English code is complex and to be confident that all children master it, we need to teach it in a way that leaves no children in the no-man’s land of not understanding. -- Pamela Snow, Professor of Cognitive Psychology at La Trobe University. There was a fascinating article published by the Sydney Morning Herald on the weekend. Phonics are such an essential part of learning -- at Educate, we teach them systematically and explicitly before placing them in words, and then use these words in sentences to provide context.
