Countries like the UK and Canada are taking steps to facilitate international students by easing some visa requirements as the industry contributes billions of dollars in GDP every year. Here, Australia also has come up with a plan to ease some requirement...s regarding Temporary Graduate Visa. However, under the proposal being considered by the government, international students may be granted work rights after completing their course despite studying online and remaining offshore. This is good news for students studying online and stranded offshore as they would also be eligible to apply for a temporary graduate visa. You can learn more about the change here: https://www.educationone.net.au//australia-to-change-temp/.

Live workshops will be conducted based on the Australian time zone, and this needs to be taken into consideration by students undertaking study in other countries. Campuses in Australia have taken some steps to help their students who are impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. There are some new regulations, such as reducing the tuition fees and providing instalment plans so that students can better manage their finances. Campuses are also working closely with the Overseas Student Health Cover Provider to ensure all students are provided with the necessary care. As for future students, all intakes remain the same and we are waiting for further information about how the courses will be delivered.

05.01.2022 ***Stage-4 Victoria Lockdown: South Australias Plan to Bring Back International Students on Hold!*** In August, we learned that the government was finalising a plan to welcome 300 international students to return to South Australia. They were expected to return in September. However, the plan is currently being paused as it is waiting for Prime Minister Scott Morrisons sign off. The plan hasnt received final approval and therefore details about the plan, including students... nationalities, still cannot be confirmed. The decision on source countries will be made only after the plan gets approved by Prime Minister Scott Morrisons government. It was previously reported that student returnees to Australia are expected to come via a flight from Singapore. Once they arrive in Adelaide, they must complete a two-week quarantine which is going to be covered by their universities. After that, they may return to campus. It is understood that Morrisons government is expected to prioritise finding a resolution on internal border bans and caps on international arrivals before giving its consent to South Australia to fly back its international students. Thus, even though it may take longer, the South Australian Government is still working closely with the Commonwealth and relevant agencies to ensure the program provides a safe return for the student returnees.

05.01.2022 Hundreds of international students are set to return to university in Adelaide next month under a national pilot program aimed at reviving Australias higher education sector amid the coronavirus pandemic. This program would be used to test whether a return of international students could be managed nationally. According to Federal Trade Minister Simon Birmingham, the pilot program will allow approximately 300 students to return to Adelaide. Returning students will undergo a... mandatory supervised quarantine. However, unlike the other travellers, the quarantine program for the returning students will be paid by universities. For many international students stranded overseas when the borders closed, returning to Australia was crucial for them to be able to complete their course, as many students are required to complete placements, practicals or internships to complete their qualification and those cannot be delivered online. Let us hope so that the trial went well and international students can all return to Australia safely to complete their courses.

03.01.2022 ***Breaking News: We Can Now Enter Western Australia Without Undertaking Quarantine!*** After implementing the hard border policy since April, Western Australia will finally move to a "controlled border" arrangement from November 14. With the new arrangement, travellers from states and territories deemed a very low-risk can enter Western Australia without undertaking quarantine. Very low-risk jurisdictions are defined as having had no local cases in the previous 28 days. This... currently includes Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia, the ACT and the Northern Territory. Even though the travellers from those jurisdictions do not need to undertake the quarantine, they will still be subject to certain requirements, such as undergo a health screening and temperature test on arrival and be prepared to undertake a COVID-19 test, if necessary. They will also need to complete a declaration stipulating they do not have any COVID-19 symptoms and which jurisdictions they have been to in the past 14 days. However, travellers coming from NSW and Victoria will still need to self-quarantine for 14 days and present for a COVID-19 test until deemed as very low-risk jurisdictions.
