Plus, really enjoying reading the comments we received from people who check or name the different species we find if we can not identify. 16.01.2022 Our girls were very VERY EXCITED to see that someone left a loveheart rock on the little maze they have been making with the help of family members and some beautiful families I have the pleasure to work with. The joy it brought them was priceless. It has been a great little team building experience and so many things learnt. They saw that their plan of making a snail shell maze took a very long time. We have been working on it for weeks. It had to be a shell because they wanted people to feel happy when they played in it so they did not want a maze with stops, go back a shell maze has NO stops Plus, I love the excitement of look ants and then sorry rock we can’t use you, the ants need you!

15.01.2022 Now PNG knows how to make some awesome bamboo instruments.

14.01.2022 The joy of nature. play this gif for a smile. Have an awesome day! http://gifgifmagazine.com//uplo/2019/08/sjenka-stonoga.gif

13.01.2022 What a wonderful resource.

13.01.2022 We had an awesome week of bird watching for the Aussie backyard bird count. The girls enjoyed looking for birds in lots of different places. The ‘birdlife’ app is brilliant for helping beginners/ novice bird watchers.

10.01.2022 Another idea to help with you NAIDOC celebrations

10.01.2022 Happy Earth Day everyone for the 22nd. So what activities are you doing this week for Earth Day and ANZAC Day? Why not do them with Natural materials. Writing in chalk and then have little ones put flowers, rocks, leaves... over the top is fun and really effect. Writing on leaves or bark are great fun too or make a face with mud on a tree. If you are having troubles finding big leaves try writing a letter on each leaf. Notice earth and heart have the same letters just in a different order. Have fun this week!

10.01.2022 To all the amazing Mums, Happy Mother's Day and thank-you for everything you do. We hope you have an amazing day! Plus, to all the loving Step-mums, Grandmother...s, Nannies, Grans, Omas, Mother-In-Laws, Expecting mums, adopted mums or aunties who are there to support, encourage and love THANK YOU! What would we do without you. To those who are missing their angel mums, thinking of you. We know the special memory of their love will never leave us.

09.01.2022 We will remember them

09.01.2022 I really enjoy teaching my children about showing kindness to themselves and others especially when times are tough. We usually do this by us doing random acts of kindness together. A wonderful cousin sent me a post written by Emma Elsworthy who wrote a list down which really encouraged me to write a list of ideas. Then I though I would share it and encourage you to write a list with your family or just do something today that will make a difference. Our little family is so ...Continue reading

07.01.2022 A great visual and tactile activity to help with feelings. That it is okay to not be okay. What do we do when we feel that way?

07.01.2022 The joy of nature. play this gif for a smile. Have an awesome day! http://gifgifmagazine.com//uplo/2019/08/sjenka-stonoga.gif

06.01.2022 I always love giving children a little challenge to help scaffolding or further develop a topic. Eg A great activity for basic shapes is see how many ... (triangles or rectangles) they can make. Using bamboo sticks they needed to problem solve with the correct length. If cutting grass then they need a lot of patience because one little bump and bits moved that they didn’t want to move.

05.01.2022 Letting children be creative is such an important part of the day. The process of being creative is vital for lots of reason like self-expression and it helps children express and cope with their feelings. It is perfect for trying out new ideas, and problem-solving when things don’t go to plan. Then there is my favourite part of watching them work through the process and being so excited to communicate how they did it. How have your little ones enjoyed this process this week?

04.01.2022 To all the amazing teachers, childcare workers and educators who are amazing at supporting students through a constantly changing world and make a huge difference in their communities WELCOME BACK TO TERM 3 we truly hope you had a well deserved break. Below are some ideas for NAIDOC Week as a lot of places did not get to hold celebrations in the community because of COVID you can make sure you still have fun in your classroom. (Although please make sure Indigenous heritage, ...knowledge and culture are a part of every week, not just NAIDOC week. Indigenous heritage should always be recognised and embedded throughout our planning and everyday routines. ) The first full week of July is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, history and culture. NAIDOC Week. This year some places will be having their big community celebrations in November because of COVID but as educators anytime is the perfect time to do some extra NAIDOC’s activities with your students, like learning about the traditional Indigenous owners of your area and invite an elder to give a 'Welcome to Country' ceremony at your next school assembly or workplace event. So this year I will be having celebrations twice as most communities will be celebrating NAIDOC Week 2020 on Sunday, 8 November to Sunday, 15 November However below are some workshop ideas and activities for students if you already have it on your school or childcare’s calendar for this week. In the Library, have a display of indigenous artefacts, posters and Indigenous stories. Also story time can be held inside or even better outside the library. An outdoor yarning circle is the perfect outdoor classroom and a great place to have story time or watch and learn an indigenous dance. Cook Johnny cakes on coals from a camp fire. ART: Learn and have fun writing Indigenous symbols in the sand, Face Painting, Dot painting, Rock art, Boomerang Painting (can be on paper if you do not have the budget for wooden boomerangs). Make a hands print poster. Learn some local language from an elder. Play some Indigenous Games. Head bands \ plating in red, yellow, black Dances\Didgeridoo: Have some one come in and show the children how to Dance one of their beautiful dances \ stories. How to play the Didgeridoo (only boys can play the didgeridoo. Girls can play clap sticks or lap drums) Have an awesome term. Be proud of the difference you make.

04.01.2022 With the La Nina finally bringing the goods (rain) to QLD, our frogs and cane toad are getting busy! The 'Be Toadally Sure' brochure we produced a few years ago... remains just as relevant today if you're uncertain as to the identity of your 'toad' - http://www.qldfrogs.asn.au/be-toadally-sure-campaign/ Furthermore, it includes photos of cane toad eggs and tadpoles and info on how to humanely euthanase cane toads. Finally, if you'd like to remove cane toad tadpoles from your pond/dam, visit http://www.qldfrogs.asn.au/cane-toad-challenge/ to learn how to access free cane toad tadpole baits.

03.01.2022 I’m always amazed at how creative children can be in the outdoors. Plus, how much fun and pure joy they get from making something from mud yes even a mud Christmas tree or mud echidna... something new and different every time. Merry Christmas everyone x
