Violence against women is recognised as one of the most persistent and devastating human rights violations of our time. It is an issue every day of the week and 16 Days of Activism is dedicated to raising awareness, educating people about the drivers of violence ...and uniting to eliminate it. EDVOS are celebrating 16 Days of Activism by highlighting some of the ways we and other organisations in the Eastern Region work together to prevent gender-based violence. Follow us during 16 Days of Activism to learn more about ways you can promote equality and respect in your home and community. 14.01.2022 Harmony Week 15-21 March, first held in 1999, has grown to become an important time for Australians to reflect and celebrate our nation's cultural diversity. Marking the end to #harmonyweek2021 is #HarmonyDay2021 on 21st March and coincides with the UN's International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. 08.01.2022 Sometimes sexist comments are made by people who don’t understand that their attitudes and behaviours are harmful. That’s why it’s important to call it out. What’s obvious for you may not be for them. Respectfully informing them could help them to understand and support them to change their behaviour.... Changing harmful attitudes might not happen overnight. The more valuable conversations we have that challenge these kinds of behaviours, the closer we will get to achieving a gender equal society for all.
