24.01.2022 5:30am - Flinders blowhole. This photo was taken last week, not my favourite photo I've ever taken but it has a good lesson behind it for me. Recently, I have been super unmotivated. I feel like I've been on the treadmill, or out of sync with my usual enjoyment for life. It sort of started when I had my camera gear stolen out of my car a few weeks back. A lot of doubt crept into my mind, wondering if I could produce the same style of content without the camera I prefer u...sing. Since then I've been going through the motions, my work hasn't been where I wanted it to be, I haven't had that energy I usually bring to shoots and I was basically suffering a little bit of a confidence crisis to the quality I put out. So, I thought "fuck it." I am going to have a morning to myself. I went down to flinders and tried to do the best I could with what I had. There was no sunrise, it was overcast as shit but I was happy to be there. I tried to film a youtube video which was awful but ima release that bad boy anyway. The biggest thing I realise is we put so much pressure on ourselves to always perform at a peak that simply isn't obtainable. I was expecting every piece I produced for my clients to my best piece ever, basically an unsustainable level of growth, and It got to me. I had set an impossible standard to keep and I stuck to it. everyone does it, I think we worry too much about how we look like we are doing rather than how we are doing OR we hold ourselves to standards absolutely no one else would expect us to maintain. SO the message of today is: F*cking relax, you are doing a good job, you are doing your best, stop being your own worst enemy and it's okay to have some off days, everyone needs to recharge.
