21.01.2022 Are you a girl in Year 9 or 10 (or do you know one) who would benefit from our new self-discovery and empowerment program called "Warrior Women"? This free, 6 week group will commence at EDYS on Tuesday 18th August from 3:15pm - 4:30pm. (Sessions will be held on 18 & 25 August and 1, 8, 15 & 22 September 2020). Run by our qualified female youth workers, it is a weekly gathering and a safe space to ask questions, connect with others, and have honest conversations. Discussions... may explore friendships, relationships, self-esteem and body image, values, mental health challenges and more. It is designed to increase knowledge and give tools and strategies to develop inner strength and resilience, build identity and self-esteem, and create a community of caring and connected young women. Come hang out with friends, work on an art project, write music in our studio, play ping pong, garden, or chat to a Youth Worker about life. Free Wi-FI for members means you can also check your socials, check your bank accounts/Centrelink, or find inspiration for your latest creative endeavour. You can even work on your resume or finalise a project you're working on, and get so...me assistance from the awesome staff if you need a bit of extra support. With music, loads of resources, and great people, EDYS Social Space is the place to be! Nate hasn't been feeling great, and as a result we haven't been able to get that video finished.. BUT.. never fear, because Pablo has come to our rescue and is putting together something that highlights his special photography skills, and keeping in tune with our theme this week of TIME, will be sharing some ideas on how time & photography work together.. 14.01.2022 ** Message from our Youth & Family Worker, Irena. ** Hi Everyone, There are many exciting changes happening at EDYS, and Im sure you are all keen to welcome on board and get to know the new EDYS staff over the next few weeks.... I've decided that for me personally, it's also time for a change and to pursue new opportunities, so I will also be moving on from EDYS. My last day will be Thursday the 20th of August. Amber and the EDYS team will continue to be here to support you and hang out, so be sure to pop in when you can. It has truly been so awesome to connect with each of you, and I have really enjoyed hanging out with you over the years. It means if you're ever dealing with some big issues, there is always someone at EDYS you can talk to, who will help you work things out. Whether you need information, to know your rights, to get help, or just have a chat.. we're a great place to turn to. Youth & Family Workers are able to assist with:... * Adolescent/parent conflict * Family relationships * Family and/or relationship violence * Peer relationships & school issues * Education and employment * Accommodation * Legal issues * Alcohol and other drugs * Mental health * Sexual health & Sexuality * Living and social skills You can "refer" yourself (which means just put your hand up and ask for help), or a family member, school counsellor or health professional or agency can contact us (with your permission) and ask for help for you.
