19.01.2022 The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning (damaging winds) for the upper Blue Mountains tomorrow (Wednesday 24 March). 09.01.2022 The traditional criminal legal system is failing survivors of sexual violence. Over 2 million women in Australia have experienced sexual violence since the age ...of 15. Yet very few seek a 'traditional' justice response by reporting to police. In this article, Thea Deakin-Greenwood from Central Tablelands & Blue Mountains Community Legal Centre explores restorative alternatives to current, inadequate responses to sexual, domestic and family violence. https://www.clcnsw.org.au/restorative-pathways-after-sexual

06.01.2022 We support the Aboriginal Legal Service's budget response, which emphasises the NSW government's failure to to invest in critical services to support Aboriginal... communities to thrive. "Despite continued community calls, the NSW Budget fails to commit funding to address the unmet legal needs of Aboriginal people or to adequately invest in community-led early intervention, prevention and diversion initiatives." Inadequate funding for Close the Gap targets, an over-investment in police, and a failure to commit funding to establish the Walama Court and expand the Drug Court are all key concerns.
