25.01.2022 Explorers Surrey Hills celebrated the winter solstice with a Pyjama Party! Chef Mert cooked a delicious hearty soup to accompany the celebrations. The seasonal significance of the winter solstice is in the reversal of the gradual lengthening of nights and shortening of days. This is a significant time of year in many cultures and is marked by festivals and rituals worldwide.
23.01.2022 Our Pobblebonks have been inquiring about colours around them, so we went on a colour hunt to discover all the blue they could find in our centre.
22.01.2022 Our little Explorers were very lucky to have a special guest this week. Childrens author Bianca Ross read her new book Herbert Peabody and the Funky Fruit Book. It was a fun & interactive experience where children enjoyed the rhyming of the words in the book, meeting Bianca & seeing their friends all via Zoom. ... Bianca also showed us how to make a fruit pizza by using some of the fruits from the book. Our Kingfishers and Red Gums enjoyed their healthy afternoon tea by making their very own fruit pizzas.

Educators posed questions like "why do you think the plants are living beings?" and "what do they need to grow?" Our clever little Explorers came up with some fantastic answers including; because they grow. They need; water, soil, oxygen & sunlight. ... An amazing collective effort from these budding scientists!

15.01.2022 Our Red Gums and Kingfishers were investigating the planets, learning all about Jupiter in celebration of National Science Week. Our little Explorers created their very own Jupiter by mixing paint colours. Once dry, they then drew other planets on their space creations.

02.01.2022 In celebation of National Science Week, our little Explorers read the book called The Little Cloud by Eric Carl and discussed how rain forms. To explore the science behind it they had an experiment to investigate how the water droplets fall.
02.01.2022 Our Honeypots have been learning all about Indigenous story symbols and iconography. Although local dialects and symbols vary they are an important part of Indigenous art and storytelling. Our Honeypots are using loose parts play to extend their learning.
