02.01.2022 The cycle of the quails can be seen in 4 different stages. First, the eggs have to be fertile (males and females have to be together to fertilise the eggs) and these fertile eggs need to spend at least 18 days inside an incubator (something we will talk about later). Secondly, baby chicks will be independent as soon they hatch and will need water, food (game birds starter or chicks starter), and a heat lamp for the next 4 weeks (time for them to get feathers). Thirdly..., chicks older than 4 weeks can have the heat lamp off during the day as feathers grow. Fourthly, for quails that are around 8 weeks, females will start to produce eggs (small / or no shell/ funny shape ) and males will start to produce some white foam and start to sing (not too loud and only a few times a day, nothing like a rooster). This 8 weeks gives the full cycle of the Japanese quail.
