24.01.2022 #WednesdayWisdom Rick likes to add a little something extra to our payslips, so we always receive a little quote at the bottom. Some are uplifting and inspiring, other times, like last week, we receive ones like this! He just gets us

24.01.2022 Who's got a green dot on their iPhone?

24.01.2022 R U OK? No one should ever feel like they can't ask for help when it's needed. Or worse, like there's no help out there at all. A simple message or call is all it takes to show someone there are people who care and who'll listen. Check on your friends who live around the corner.... Check on your friends who live interstate (especially Victoria). Check on your friends who live overseas. Check on those who don't seem ok. Check on those who do seem ok. Check on your work colleagues. Check on your students. Check on your family. Check on a stranger. Check on yourself. And remember, #TheresMoreToSay after #RUOK. To find out ways to keep the conversation flowing, see www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask. #SuicidePrevention #MentalHealthAwareness #CheckOnYourMates

22.01.2022 After almost 8 years, we recently completed our amazing journey with Launceston Airport, managing all of their digital channels and community from the very first follower on Facebook. There are so many people to thank and we'll do that soon, but for now, we thought we'd share the last post we made on October 8. The video was produced by Clint here at Effective Naturally and stars our very own Charlotte.

20.01.2022 If only Blockbuster saw the writing on the wall earlier, they could have beaten Netflix to the punch, but alas this AirBNB innovation is better late than never!

20.01.2022 Can you spot a troll? There’s no doubt social media can be divisive. At Effective, we’re committed to only do good and build communities with all of the digital tools we have. But trolls work to divide communities and Russian influence is swinging conversations and polarising debates. ... This quiz asks checks how well you can determine if that stranger you’re taking notice of is a real person or not... What’s your score?

19.01.2022 This week on ABC Northern Tasmania Rick spoke about the massive number of businesses losing access to their social media pages for a variety of reasons. Rick has put together a checklist of the minimum requirements ALL businesses should do to protect their assets! The best cure is prevention.

11.01.2022 He’s 100 years old, was at Auschwitz and is the Happiest Man on Earth. Eddie will melt your heart.

09.01.2022 When a classic Aussie brand, creates a dash of Aussie mateship. BTW, getting product placement into ABC (non-commercial channel) is worthy of a high five in itself.

09.01.2022 Did you know that you can now show support for your favourite small businesses by tagging them in your Instagram story using the new feature, 'Support Small Business'? We know plenty of local businesses who'd be very grateful for your support, especially in this time.

09.01.2022 Ever wondered why you can't comment, like or share content on behalf of a Company Page on LinkedIn when you're an admin? We have, and it's proven to be quite frustrating, especially when our aim is to always ensure community management is #onfleek! ... If you're managing one or more company pages on LinkedIn and want to up your community engagement game, here's a little hack we discovered on how to like/share/comment from your Company page: 1 On the post you'd like to share/comment/like on behalf of your company, click the ... in the top right-hand corner of the post, and then click "Copy link to post." 3 Open a new tab, paste the link and hit enter. 4 Go to your company page and copy the ID number from the URL (this is the 7 digit number). 5 Go back to the other tab where you entered the copied link, and at the end of the URL, and add the following code: ?= followed by the ID number e.g. ?actorCompanyId=1234567. Make sure the capitals are the same, otherwise it won't work. 6 You should now see that the icon has changed from your personal profile image to the business image. How'd you go? It's that easy! #LinkedinHacks

08.01.2022 The growth of digital technologies means that in the next 5 years, we'll see a higher demand for employees with basic digital skills. ? These could include: Online file management skills.... Understanding cyber security and the associated risks. Online documentation systems like Google Drive or Microsoft office. Basic emailing skills including etiquette and management. A knowledge of these basic systems is a great way to make yourself more employable in a wide range of fields. Time is key in business so they may seem like small details that are 'easy to learn'. But the less time an employer has to spend teaching basic skills is a big part of the decision making process. + when they're skills you can learn from home, why not get a head start? #WeAreEffective

07.01.2022 When we work with our clients, we're all in, and including community is a critical piece of brand building that we love. Earlier this year, the Launceston Airport held a fundraiser for the bushfires and it was so great to be part of the day all pitching in as part of the team. #WeAreEffective #LauncestonAirport

07.01.2022 "The goal is to share something that I think we all need these days: a bit of optimism." Have you listened to Simon Sinek's podcast? #WeAreEffective #SimonSinek #ABitOfOptimisn #Podcast

06.01.2022 The higher your profile, the more likely you are to cop flack for something you say or do. This book is a great read that gives a light hearted insight into the serious topic of the age of outrage. It shines a light on the fragmentation that has come with a society that is itself fragmenting in to wildly different cohorts. At Effective, we understand that digital media often feeds that fragmentation by reinforcing existing opinions but we’re determined to use social as good... community citizens - social media should be used to build bridges and grow minds, not create division and spread untruths. We must label cohorts and understand their growing differences in behaviours while at the same time remembering that every individual is a fellow human being and focusing on what we have in common. Back to the book... the novel opens with Detective Mick Matlock speaking at a police media appearance to discuss a recently discovered body in a park. He unknowingly jumps right in with his size elevens by using the phrase "wrong place, wrong time". It was said unwittingly, and no offense was meant. But plenty was taken. It’s the world we live in now, but when you understand it better, you can make sure you’re not contributing to division or judgment. Enjoy the read!

06.01.2022 It's been a good day

05.01.2022 Rick's been assisting a lot of events in Tasmania in the last few weeks through a program called COVID Gold Standard as a program by Tourism Northern Tasmania supported by Bell Bay Aluminium. Events are complicated. They have considerable lead times and creativity is key in providing patrons with a safe and enjoyable experience, whilst still being financially viable. We just stumbled across this - we know it's better than nothing, but hmmmmmmm..... What do you think?

03.01.2022 When you don't have the Tasmanian Open DanceSport Championships to capture, we decided we'd enlist the help of some sponsors. Thanks to all the stars of the video, to Lily Cornish for being such a great ambassador and our Clint for all the filming and edit - part of a series to build up for 2021! #TasOpenDance #WeAreEffective
