22.01.2022 Bring your dog to rehab day! Always love having our four legged friends in the clinic for a visit!

21.01.2022 As the winter sports season is almost upon us, I have noticed a rise in hamstring injuries and hamstring related dysfunction as team training starts to increase. This is partly due to 'weekend warrior syndrome'; meaning little training or conditioning appearing outside of the winter sports season, as well patients simply not knowing how to properly prepare and strengthen their hamstrings prior to training and games. Injury prevention is of paramount importance in all areas... of life, but for sports people it could mean the difference between playing a full season with a smile on your face or struggling through a full game. For those wanting to reduce their chance of injury and increase their performance, have a look at this article. If you think you may be lacking in this area and would like to see a full season, come in for an assessment with one of our physios who can tailor a program to you and your body's needs. https://www.menshealth.com//a2678/best-hamstring-workouts/

20.01.2022 Effective Physiotherapy welcomes Joe Lim to the team! Joe is available on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Online bookings can be made via this link. https://effective-physiotherapy-sports-injuries-clinic.clin... Joe graduated from Australian Catholic University in early 2019 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy. Prior to studying physiotherapy, Joe worked as a Fitness Trainer for six years and then subsequently became interested in the injury management side of training clients. This led him down the path of acquiring a Diploma of Remedial Massage in 2009 as well as certification in Active Release Technique (ART). Throughout his clinical practice as a Remedial/Sports Massage Therapist, Joe became focused on producing results with manual therapy without causing any pain at all, a concept he learned from the developer of ART, Mike Leahy. Joe is a passionate, hands-on physiotherapist who prides himself on producing tangible results in every treatment session. In addition, he is able to coach patients on proper exercise and rehabilitation with his fitness background. Outside of work Joe is a health and fitness enthusiast as well as a watch collector and casual Uber driver!

14.01.2022 Active Release Techniques (ART) is a soft tissue management system developed and refined for the last 30 years by Dr Mike Leahy, a Chiropractor from Colorado USA. ART is now available at our clinic. At its core level, ART is a movement-based treatment where the soft tissues (muscle, tendon or ligament) are placed in a shortened position and then carefully lengthened as the therapist’s hand contact is used to release the adhesions and tension of the structures involved. The be...nefits of a movement-based treatment approach are that less absolute pressure can be used as the adhesions come towards the therapists’ thumbs/fingers and allows an effective ‘stripping’ effect to take place. This allows a comfortable treatment experience. The main aim and benefit of ART is to reduce the ‘resistance’ of the muscle so that it can contract efficiently. Think of running through a long pool with waist-height water; there is a lot of resistance! But with ART its aim is to reduce the water level down to ankle height so that you can now run through the pool with less effort!

06.01.2022 Our very motivated ACL rehab patient Emily has come leaps and bounds () in the past few months since her surgery. This was Em a few weeks ago during a physio session working on some plyometric focused skills training with the aim of making her soccer come back this season. We love to see this level of dedication in our patients as it always pays off, and from what we can see she is shaping up to be better than ever. Em has been sticking to her exercise rehab program set by our physio Emma and is also including sessions of swimming and easing into pre-season team training with no problems at all. Really looking forward to see what this season brings you Em!

"My brother gave me your number as he had been raving about the holistic service that you provide. On Saturday I called desperate to get an appointment and the gorgeous Emma managed to give me a session. I was in a great deal of pain and so was elated when Emma answered the phone. I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am to have seen her, s...he was so lovely and really got to the point of my pain and helped me understand why I could be having it. I just wanted to let you know how brilliant she was. Today I feel much better. I look forward to seeing her on Tuesday". - Danielle Thank you and we are so glad you are feeling yourself again!
