24.01.2022 Combining Scapula and Grip Strengthening! *Give this a try with 10sec holds x 10 to maximize grip and upper trap strength for lifts. This provide great carryover for any strength based movement.* We recently had a strength athlete (strongwoman) in for shoulder rehab that required upper trap strengthening. In addition, she had grip strength loss and plans to compete soon. So we decided to combine the 2 for optimal carryover at an advanced stage. ... The arm out will maximise upper trap recruitment compared to a conventional position. While the angular band resistance mimics the Herculese hold, increases distraction force and requires increased grip. Together they provide a functional scapula strength exercise that is very difficult!

22.01.2022 Fresh Stock! Now selling @ironedgetraining bands in the clinic............they are a great tool for home rehab and fitness and extremely versatile! Starting from $9.95. Full packs available also

21.01.2022 Reposted from @tfc.australia - Exciting Announcement!! TFC Australia has officially teamed up with @effectus_physio, so James will now be providing one-on-one and small group therapy using TFC concepts and products! Effectus is a multi-disciplinary clinic with a focus on holistic, movement-based solutions to musculoskeletal pain and injury. It has private physio rooms as well as an awesome gym space kitted out with plenty of functional training equipment and now (of cou...rse) TFC Beams! James obviously has a special interest in feet/ankles/ knees/hips but the clinic has a great variety of clinicians (like @activemattersaep) with lots of experience in all areas of the body. Check out the Effectus Physio website to learn more about the clinic or to book a session! #thefootcollective #tfcaustralia #foothealth #feet #strongfeet #balance #beams #barefoot #physio #physiotherapy #exercise #medicine #movement #strength #conditioning #lifting #weights #training #fun #play - #regrann See more

21.01.2022 Super proud of how @abew91 did over the weekend @2018nqgames. Battled a nagging injury for the past 6 weeks, but showed what determination and consistency can achieve by producing a huge 700kg total. Here he smoked a pb squat of 230kg well done mate!

19.01.2022 Flashback to the seminar we did last weekend for @cj.fit_ if you are looking for a model to follow for your warmup routine that is evidence based, and will improve your performance, then look no further then the RAMP approach! A generalised guide you can apply to any sport or workout.......It was a great turnout with great people more to come in the future!

19.01.2022 Wall mounted racks and plates are completed extra room for the upcoming classes too! @ Toowong Village

17.01.2022 A nice little repost of a general mobility workout for Friday's Workout of the Week by @activemattersaep. It has been kept as ballistic movements instead of static stretching so it can be hsed as a warm up also *tip: static stretching will temporarily reduce power and strength of a muscle where as ballistic movements won't. Not to say there isn't a place for static stretching but its all about balance.

17.01.2022 It is so imperative to think about the way injuries are discussed by the patient and health professional. The way its phrased can completely frame the way rehab is undertaken by an individual. The psychological impacts and mindframe of the patient is often what drives their motivation and therefore their outcome! Great post by #Repost @hamishthephysio to highlight different methods.

15.01.2022 Sleep is key for performance The basics are often neglected for more fancy supplements: Eat well, work hard and sleep ALOT...... Sleep is also vital for reducing pain, with many studies showing an increase to pain sensitivity when sleep deprived. That is particularly important in chronic pain, making sure you get adequate sleep to break the cycle! Great podcast @joerogan

15.01.2022 Thank you @thebodybuildingdietitians for having me on your podcast. It was great to sit down with fellow Allied Health who are as passionate as i am! We discussed and answered a bunch of listeners' questions on all things Physiotherapy, with a focus on injuries in the gym for bodybuilders, powerlifters and more. Head over to @thebodybuildingdietitians to check it out!

15.01.2022 We are proud to announce our sponsorship of the @australianpowerliftingunion sanctioned comp held by @panthers_powerlifting on the 12th december 2020: dubbed Effectus Cup! We will be putting up prize money for the top male and female lifter, and biggest totals on the day. We couldn't be more proud to be giving back to a sport that gives so much to its community. Its the first of many years to come, each bigger and better, in the hopes of helping to grow and build the future of the sport. Also had a cool logo made for it cuz it'll make sweet tshirts.

14.01.2022 A great workshop with @kristal_stirling and her clients over the weekend, talking mobility/function, warm ups/cooldowns, breaking the myths and discussing what evidence exists on these topics. Ill post up a few slides from the day soon!

13.01.2022 #tbt to last weekends @2018nqgames . Our physio Scott pulling a 255kg deadlift for the U83kg win. Coached by @webby_85 who is the best going around for power programming. Thanks to all the amazing @panthers_powerlifting crew for their support! #powerliftingaustralia

13.01.2022 I wanted to put something up in the rehab gym that would inspire and motivate my patients. I couldn't think of a better moment or Icon then @tiaclair1 at the @commgamesaus. Delivering a clutch lift! Thank you to @kristal_stirling_chalkartist for this amazing design.

10.01.2022 Return to sport= time to heal AND time to re-condition!* * After an injury rehab is not only the amount of time it takes to heal (for example a broken bone) but the amount of time it can take to re gain your prior conditioning. We see alot of people get re injured trying to go straight back to the same level/intensity after an injury with a disregard for the time it took to get there originally.* * Remember, your connective tissues may take longer to adapt then your cardiovas...vular condition or perceived strength. This is a common way to wind up in a chronic pain situation, so respect the process and ensure you are programming for not only the short term recovery but medium term conditioning. If you are unsure how to bridge that gap, consult your health professional or us * For example, if you take 4 weeks off complete exercise, it may take up to 10 weeks to progressive build. Great table from the AIS thst shows how much time it will take to safely resume full training loads and intensity after time off.

07.01.2022 @redalicious_strongwoman doing awesome work progressing her overhead stability, proprioception and strength! Its easy when you have dedicated patients. #Repost from @redalicious_strongwoman with @regram.app ... ... Part of my shoulder rehab program from @effectus_physio A month ago I was using 2.5kg plates a side on the bamboo stick and I was wobbling all over the place. My shoulder stability absolutely sucked, I was getting impingement and it was painful as hell Working away at my rehab exercises week after week & checking in with my Physio & coach @coco_strongman Now I am using 10kg plates, faster presses and feeling much more stable in the overhead position. Progress is progress #effectusphysio #shoulderrehab #tornlabrumprobs #overheadpress #stabilityexercises #bandedbarbellpress #strongnotskinny @gymbanditau @cocos_gym

06.01.2022 Another brilliant piece by @kristal_stirling_chalkartist in the clinic. It was meant to be the seasons celebrations..... but the liverpool supporters here are still happy. #youllneverwalkalone #stevengerrard

04.01.2022 Effectus Cup! Throwback to Pre Christmas, where we sponsored our inaugural powerlifting comp @panthers_powerlifting . It was an amazing turnout on the day, even with dodgy weather, with over 70 lifters competing. A big shoutout to our winners @maria_muipu_lifting_ and @kvdub27 taking out 1st place overall in the Women's and Men's, taking home $500 each. Biggest totals on the day also went to @maria_muipu_lifting_ and @sambutterworth_ We wanted to sponsor the event to give b...ack to Powerlifting, to help build something special that can grow every year, in both prize money and culture. But none of that would be possible without help. So a special shoutout to all the volunteers, competitors and supporters, without you its not possible. Lastly thank you for the support on the merch. We came close to selling out, so 2021 prize will be bigger! See more
