25.01.2022 Meet the Maker - Clover Hill An intimate session with Clover Hill Winemaker Robert Heywood. Clover Hill Wines was established in 1986 and created to rival the wines of Champagne. Blending the finest traditions with our own distinguished Tasmanian style we produce our sparkling wines in the Méthode Traditionelle. ... Clover Hill is able to crafts wines of pedigree due to its ideal cool climate location in Northern Eastern Tasmania. The superior quality of the cool-climate fruit and intimate attention to detail given by dedicated winemakers are vital for crafting wines with finesse and complexity. Clover Hill Tasmanian Cuvée NV Rosé is fermented in the bottle, this wine is aged on yeast lees for a minimum of two years, in addition to a careful dosage of pinot noir to give it a delicate salmon colour. Clover Hill Classic Vintage Cuvée truly captures the essence of Tasmania with structure and finesse. Portions of this wine have been aged in small-format french oak foudres and barriques to highlight the complexity that can be achieved. Clover Hill Cuvée Exceptionelle is made from only the finest parcels which are gently whole-bunch-pressed, fermented and underwent partial malolactic fermentation. 22.01.2022 We are excited to announce our second emerging producer for Effervescence Tasmania 2019! Sharmans Wines is the oldest existing vineyard in Relbia, and has a strong reputation for producing a range of award-winning Tasmanian wines, including award-winning Pinot Noir, Sparkling, Riesling, and Chardonnay; our most outstanding wines being Pinot Noirs, predominantly from vines that are 25 to 30 years old. The Vineyard, which has mature Cabernet and Merlot vines, is sufficie...ntly warm to ripen Cabernet virtually every season. We have also recently released a cool-climate Syrah. At Sharmans, the wines benefit, not only from the maturity of the vines, but also from a variety of other factors that result in exceptional conditions for the growth and ripening of the fruit. The Vineyard is planted on north-facing slopes, and the soils are clay-based and sufficiently austere to produce slow-ripening of the grapes, enabling a full development of flavour and complexity in our wines. 13.01.2022 A TIME FOR RE-BUILDING The original objective for the Effervescence Tasmania festival was to increase the profile of Tasmania sparkling wine industry. Over the journey we have had documentaries made, multiple TV and radio reports, full page articles in international airline magazines, newspapers, wine, food and luxury lifestyle magazines. Quite simply - we are humbled by the amount of publicity and kind words. It's been a remarkable 6 years of celebrating Tasmanian sparkling ...wine with such culinary icons as Tetsuya Wakuda, Jacques Reymond, Mark Best, Nick Raitt (Josef Chromy Wines), Matt Adams (Timbre) and Craig Will (Sillwater) among others. We've hosted 1000's of people who travelled from interstate and overseas and had a lot fun and sore heads in the process. But in a post Covid-19 world, for an industry that relies on Travel, Tourism and Hospitality, time will be required to re-build. As such, Effervescence Tasmania will be on ice for the foreseeable future. However, that hasn't stopped some of the best sparkling wine in world flowing, or brought the conversation to an end. 13.01.2022 Announcing our first of two Emerging Producers for Effervescence Tasmania 2019 Henskens Rankin of Tasmania ... From the winemakers: In 2010 we founded Henskens Rankin of Tasmania with just two tonne of fruit in tiny parcels and a vision of creating a new, uniquely Tasmanian style of sparkling. Obsessive about quality and detail we deliberately choose small-scale, artisanal approaches to our winemaking - employing very old techniques like using indigenous yeast for primary and even secondary ferments, and fermenting in oak barrels to build complexity and allow the fruit to speak for itself. Just as every year is different, so is every barrel. You will find this fingerprint on all of our wines. When Frieda was eight years-old, on a dairy farm in New Zealand, she decided to tread grapes from the garden in her mothers bread-pan. She poured the juice directly into bottles but that first time, didnt cap them and the fizzy mess spilled all over the floor. You could say fizz has always been her thing. David started making wine at eleven, in a leafy Melbourne suburb, and never stopped. We still have that first bottle of plum wine around somewhere. Based in Hobart, Frieda trained as a winemaker and viticulturist whilst working in local vineyards and wineries (and raising a growing family). Completing her masters degree with a research project and study in Champagne.
