08.01.2022 Already a cornerstone of 3AM Spares, Oz Echoes proudly traces back two early incarnations of the prodigious Jandy Rainbow - her first band Les Trois Etrangers + Aeroplane Footsteps, her pre-MIDI electro-pop duo with Simon Edhouse. Previously unreleased (!), both tracks demonstrate this inherent synthesist’s imagination leaping ideas as an Adelaide youth. While Les Trois Etrangers were short-lived, Aeroplane Footsteps relocated their hardware to Sydney, contributing to Fast Fo...rward before disbanding in 1983. Soon after, the ever-evolving Rainbow moved to Melbourne, becoming a member of cybernetic-punk unit Donno Detti. Eventually decamping to Brisbane in 1996 to escape the Melbourne cold + its effects on her childhood history of polio, the third-gender identifying artist continued to established herself as a trance, techno + breaks producer, ultimately working in the therapeutic field of binaural beats. This prolific Brisbane phase is currently the subject of a reissue campaign on Trans:Com. Out this Friday, the two Oz Echoes tracks are now steaming on YouTube. * Images from non-official Sydney arts housing project Oasis, Aeroplane Footsteps’ live performance, 16mm dance footage, busking at Rundle St Mall + behind the scenes of 1979 queer film ‘Desire’ *
