02.01.2022 Solving a leaching problem in a shower (NB: Efflock wasn't used originally): Notice how the leaching appears to have risen up through the grout lines surrounding the drainage grate? That would suggest that the grate might be creating a dam, preventing the screed from being able to free-drain discreetly, forcing evaporation and the appearance of salts up through the surface of the grout. It would be worth removing the grate and taking a closer look. It might be that the brass... is sitting almost tight upon the membrane. If that is the case, we would recommend drilling some weep holes in the brass at the screed level - being careful NOT to damage any waterproofing! Once the grout is cleaned, a sealer such as Effseal or an epoxy grout colourant can be applied to the grout lines to minimise water entry.
