23.01.2022 Sorry for the inconvenience, but why not check out the "Parkville Pugs" app for at-home workout options. Shout out to our favourite FIFO worker Don...we heard you were looking forward to an EFM workout after two weeks away so we've added an at-home workout just for you!

22.01.2022 A Good Samaritan (with hand writing much neater than mine) left these at the club...if you know anyone in need, let me know and Ill get them to you.

21.01.2022 Hello EFMers, We hope you and your families are well. With the protective measures surrounding the coronavirus continuing in the foreseeable future, we would like to update you on the club's approach to the situation.... Firstly, we are remaining open for business. Fitness Australia (the industry's peak body) advises that it is safe and beneficial to continue exercising at health clubs and gyms. Exercise, after all, is one of your most important allies in boosting immunity and fending off the coronavirus! Secondly, while the coronavirus is not transmitted via sweat, it is essential that you practice excellent gym hygiene when you are at the club. This includes: -Bringing a towel and water bottle to all workouts (effective Wed, March 18th we will no longer provide cups for the water station) -Using the hand sanitizer provided at the club (there is a station located at the front door) -Wiping down equipment with antibacterial wipes (we have plenty of wipes and more are on the way!) -Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap before and after your workout (taps and soap are located in the changerooms) -Not attending if you feel unwell and/or experience cold/cough/flu symptoms (apologies in advance, you will be asked to head home if you are displaying any of the above symptoms). Rest assured- we are cleaning the club around the clock! You may see less of Michael over coming weeks as he is currently taking on the role of full-time cleaner (most of which is done outside of session times). As a small facility, we remain optimistic we will not be affected by the possibility of a nation-wide lock-down. This notwithstanding, we have measures in place to allow you to continue your health and fitness regime if this does eventuate. These measures include: -An online booking system which will allow us to control how many members are in the club at one time (you can view this feature on our mobile app, but it is NOT necessary to book at this stage) -The ability to conduct outdoor training sessions (more information will be provided if this eventuates) -The ability to conduct online training sessions (more information will be provided if this eventuates) These are certainly challenging times. The level of support you have shown the club is overwhelming and we are truly grateful. Take care and don't hesitate to call or email if you would like more information on what we are doing to minimize the risk of coronavirus transmission at the club. Regards, EFM Health Clubs Parkville

16.01.2022 Last evening, it was announced that outdoor group training is restricted until further notice- effective from today. While many of you have enjoyed our recent outdoor sessions, it is now time to embrace online training. I know this is an uncomfortable prospect for many.... Many of you don't like the thought of exercising on camera. That's fair enough- I don't mind if you cover up your webcam so no one can see you. Right now, I just want you to get online and re-establish your exercise routine Many of you are missing your favourite strength exercises and cardio machines. That's understandable- but now is the perfect time to discover new favourite exercises. Providing your body with new challenges will bring new results. Many of you are worried exercise won't be as fun without your EFM buddies. That's reasonable- but why not visit your favourite EFMers online? Online training is a great way to continue your exercise regime AND stay in touch with each other. This week has forced many of our priorities to change and rightfully so. Right now, exercise is secondary to being there for loved ones who need our support and care. But we also need to support and care for ourselves. And the longer this situation drags on, the more important this self-care will become. With this in mind, I encourage you to commit to at least two online sessions this week. Now, more than ever, you need to stay active to bolster your immune system and your mental well being.

11.01.2022 This Thursday (Sep 7) is National Threatened Species Day. To help draw attention to this important conservation effort, we've decided to become the Parkville Parrots for the month of September. Why the parrots you ask?... Orange-bellied Parrots (OBPs) are one of Australia’s our most critically endangered animals. Less than 50 exist in the wild. September is an important month for OBPs where they spend their time on Victoria’s coastline building their strength for their spring migration to Tasmania to breed. A specially designed gym has been built at Werribee Open Range Zoo to improve the captive-bred bird’s fitness before release. You can read more about National Threatened Species Day here: https://www.zoo.org.au//national-threatened-species-day-20

09.01.2022 The Department of Health has confirmed Gyms, indoor fitness centres and swimming pools DO NOT need to close at this time as long as they follow social distancing advice and have good cleaning routines in place. https://www.health.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for Accordingly, alongside our intensive cleaning schedule, we now require all members to maintain a safe distance of 1.5m from each while working out. ... We have re-configured the layout of the club (including greater spacing between cardio) and will be adjusting the content of workouts to facilitate social distancing. In introducing these measures, we hope to establish the safest possible environment for you to continue your health and fitness regime. We thank you in advance for working with us to achieve this objective!
