25.01.2022 How can simplicity help you reach your goals? In order to reach your desired goals and reach success, and not be stressed or overwhelmed, you have to chunk your goals down. Meaning, most people can only work with groups of three (3), no more or no less. Sometimes if we go too far one way or too far the other way, the number of goals we need to achieve can be overwhelming, daunting, and frustrating. (for example, if you have ever heard of the saying ‘there is just too much t...o remember’ and then your brain puts it at the back of your mind to think about later). Chunking is defined as grouping together information into ideally sized pieces so that they can be used effectively to produce the results you want to achieve without feeling stressed or overwhelmed. The most common health goals I hear are: I Just want to get fit, I want to achieve Weight-loss I would like better range of motion in my body I would like to work on my mindset and mental health I want to get strong and toned. Just in those 5 statements there are 100s of ways to achieve this goal. Which is why chunking it down and focusing on 3 outcomes at a time will get you your results quickly. For example, if you want to achieve better range of motion in the body, you could focus on mobility, stability and flexibility to achieve this goal and then chunk this down even more. If you’re looking for weight-loss then you might want to just focus on your eating habits which can be chunked down into, choosing healthier options, drinking more water throughout the day, and getting more protein into your diet. Chunk your goal down into bite size pieces and focus on 3 outcomes at a time. Keep it simple.

Scientists think that playing the game distracted them long enough for cravings (which usually last just a short while) to pass. In a study published in the journal Appetite, college students who were having cravings either played a video game or waited for the computer to load. A quarter of the game players reported their cravings went away. Note: it doesn’t have to be Tetris, according to the researchers. It can be anything that requires focus and has plenty of eye-grabbing visuals!

Just because you have a craving, doesn’t mean you have to give up on your goals you can use these tips to have the BEST of both! CRAVING PASTA? try the fiber/protein-rich varieties made out of lentils or chickpeas (these are surprisingly filling!!!!). ... OR, use spiralized veggie noodles they are literally everywhere now in the grocery stores, fresh and frozen. Tip: try using zucchini or eggplant slices in your lasagna. CRAVING ICE CREAM? try whipping up a frozen dessert bowl with 1 cup frozen berries and to cup of your favorite milk. Blend in scoop of your favorite protein powder for more oomph! It seems so simple but small changes like these that can add up to big results in building a healthy lifestyle!

Here it is next time you get a craving, tap your forehead with your finger for about 30 seconds! According to researchers at Mount Sinai Hospital, doing this can make cravings less intense, plus it blurs the image of the food you’re craving in your mind!... Interesting right? Tapping your foot on the floor and tapping your ear also works, but not as well as tapping your forehead. Give it a try and see if it works for you!

It doesn’t have to be a fancy label. A piece of masking tape and a magic marker will do the trick. Just write what’s inside the container and (most important of all) THE DATE.... I know we always THINK we will remember when we put that leftover stir-fry in the fridge, but too many times we don’t!
