15.01.2022 Hey everyone, This post marks the start of a new segment from EFMSA; a weekly insight into an article that is centred around key issues for students. These weekly updates will seek to devlop understanding in areas important to securing a position within the industry, whilst opening the floor for discussion amongst like-minded peers. Opening the discussion this week is a piece from the AFR, which delves into the recent changes to Graduate programs in financial firms following ...the Covid-19 fuelled remote working environment. Change has been already started, with one in four employers pushing recruitment dates back following a lack of certainty in the community as to the stability of graduate offers. Student's horizons aren't as bleak as they may seem however, as the lessons learned from the GFC have proven to employers that cutting grad positions in the face of calamity leads to a lack of avaliable talent when stability returns to the economy. As a lesson to take away from this going forward, now is one of the most important times to be doing the work. Regardless of the level of certainty for a particular position, the development of your network, research and learning remains a key component in developing your personal brand. Article:

12.01.2022 Only 5 days to go until our digital networking and Q&A session on "How To Present Yourself in The Workplace" Introducing to you one of our panelists, Bonnie-J...ean Young! Find out more about her in her juicy bio below. _________________________ "I'm Bonnie, the founder and owner of Beon Group Australia. Both my passion and strategy lie in disrupting mediocre sales process, outdated operational strategies and general beliefs that limit success in business. I personally live my life by taking action, pushing limits and living on my own terms. In doing this it has thrown some serious curve balls my way that in turn have taught some extremely valuable lessons in life and more importantly, in business. My journey began in sales 10 years ago. At the time i was taught aggressive and invasive sales approaches that I didn't believe in. I was surrounded by incorrect selling methods, burning and churning business, burning bridges and destroying business reputation. I set out to understand consumer behaviour. I learned how to identify prospective business, the psychology behind buying decisions and understanding ethical selling.I tapped into this knowledge, and went on to implement my knowledge in real life. In doing so i found myself climbing corporate ladders, liaising with some incredibly successful people, and leading teams of people to successful milestones in the insurance, finance, direct selling, advertising, construction and fitness industries. Over the last few years I have worked hard to develop my own valuable material to bring motivational sales training to life, and develop the most efficient methods to drive positive change in a business. As such enabling the success of my clients in the competitive marketplace. My role as a Business Consultant is to develop structure, increase profit margins, and give business owners back their time. I am fuelled by the commitment to see the vision for your business come to life.

06.01.2022 EFMSA Facebook Friday: Hello again and welcome, Following on from last week's dive into the stability of Graduate positions in the coming year, this week we would like to bring your attention to a topic that is important for all students to be aware of: the effect that the COVID environment is having on our universities, in particular RMIT.... A recent article has been published outlining the impact that the lack of international students and revenue has been having on several major Australian universities, including our own. RMIT is in the top two universities that have a reliance on overseas revenue, with more than a third of the uni's income stemming from its international students' course fees. In light of this, there has an estimated loss for RMIT of up to $850 million over the next 5 years, which leaves the question of where the operational expenses will come from. There has been speculation of mergers between Australian unis as a means of pooling resources, whilst a focus will be made on cutting back on redundant campus locations following the massive spike in the accessibility of online learning. Whilst efforts are scheduled to begin a return to campus, for the near future at least, online learning is very much our reality.
