02.01.2022 The Sooty owl has the largest variation between sexes (sexual dimorphism) of any owl on the planet! Check this pair out, as for the first time ever a breeding pair of Sooty owls are caught on camera by long-term EGCMN supporter and owl expert Rohan Bilney. Many large forest owls in East Gippsland had all of their range servery burnt by last summers fires . It remains unknown if many survived. We now have new project that will help guide owl management into the future and gi...ve these majestic animals the protection and support they deserve. To get involved or to learn more about our owl bushfire recovery project and become a member, follow this link: http://egcmn.org.au//owl-recovery-in-post-fire-east-gipps/:

01.01.2022 G'day fellow Orbostians, just a quick visual update of what we have been finding out bush with our (Southern Ark) camera-traps over the last few months after th...e fires. Our focus was on seeing how well Long-footed Potoroos survived the fires... they only live in Far East Gippsland, with another population in the Barry Mountains in NE Victoria. Our cameras detected lots of species that survived the fires, which after the beautiful rain in July and August, along with our full-on fox control program, will mean our wildlife will bounce back strongly. Get back to me with any questions! See more
