10.01.2022 Dear members, After careful consideration and recommendation from our landlord the MMVC, your committee has voted to suspend club sessions as from this Saturday 21st March 2020 until further notice. This decision has been taken to ensure the health of our members is not compromised by attendance at the club and limit exposure to the COVID 19 virus. Daryl will be at the club for the last session on Thursday 19th March for those of you that need to finish off work that is in pr...ogress. It would be very much appreciated for anyone attending to please clean any area or equipment that you use so that our club is tidy for the duration of time it remains closed. In light of the circumstances the general meeting due to take place on Saturday 28th March has been cancelled. Sadly our gem show due to take place on the 23rd-24th May has also been cancelled, due to existing government advice concerning public gatherings of more than 100 people. Your wellbeing is of great importance to us, if there is anyone in need of assistance, please get in touch. We will monitor any updates on the virus and advise you as soon as it is safe to re-open the club. Please check your emails, our website or social media for our communications. Thank you for your understanding and please be safe. Best wishes, Daryl, Glenn, Mary, Jade (Executive Committee) See more

06.01.2022 Tectites are members of a large group of impact glasses, formed by the collision of a meteorite on the Earth’s surface and the subsequent melting of surrounding... rocks. The most famous tectites used as gemstones are moldavites from southern Bohemia in the Czech Republic. These were formed by a meteorite’s impact in the Ries crater in southern Germany 14.7 million years ago, about 500 km from their occurrence.
