24.01.2022 Merry Christmas from the Eglinton Rural Fire Service team We hope that your day is merry and bright!

24.01.2022 Today is the day!

23.01.2022 Over the coming days, NSW is set to endure heat wave conditions. Fire danger ratings will also rise with the temperatures. Whilst we ask that people are always vigilant, it's even more important under these conditions! If you see a fire without Firefighters in attendance, call 000 without delay Make sure you've written and discussed your Bushfire Survival Plan (www.myfireplan.com.au) Install Fires Near Me on your phone, and set your watch zone for notifications... Be aware of the situation around you, and be ready to leave if a fire starts Think about your activities for the day and if they have potential to spark a fire, avoid them if possible If a fire does start in our area, please do not rely on this page for up to date information. Monitor official communication channels for updates, and take instruction from Firefighters on the ground.

23.01.2022 A Total Fire Ban is now in place for the Central Ranges area which includes us, for today, Sunday 29 November, with Very High fire danger. Review and discuss your fire plan this morning and report any unattended fires to Triple Zero (000) immediately. For more information, visit: https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/fdr-and-tobans

21.01.2022 Last night, Firefighters from Eglinton responded to reports of a structure fire at Mount Rankin. Our team arrived to find a caravan fully involved in fire. Thankfully there were no people or animals hurt, however, unfortunately the van and its contents were completely destroyed.

20.01.2022 Our #ordinaryhumans doing extraordinary things! Our team couldn't leave this stranded kitten on it's own, instead working hard and bringing it out to safety! Well done team!

18.01.2022 Thanks to the Western Advocate for this great picture of our team, accepting the Bathurst Regional Council Australia Day Public Service Medallion. Once again, thank you! We are both honoured and humbled to have been given this award, and are incredibly grateful to our community who always support us!

17.01.2022 A busy 24hrs for our team here at Eglinton! Yesterday our firefighters responded to a dunny alight! (No need to reread, you read that right!). A stand alone toilet that used saw dust for the composting part of the dunny, caught alight when the sawdust spontaneously combusted! The team managed to contain the fire to a 10x10m area, and the landowner was advised against any further spicy food in the future! You could say there was a common theme to the day, as overnight Eglint...on joined Perthville and Bathurst Rural Fire Brigades at the Bathurst Waste Management Centre for another fire. Thankfully today proved a little less rubbish for our Firefighters!

15.01.2022 Hot weather is coming. With increased growth, there's an increased risk of grass fires this season. Know what to do to get ready. Check www.myfireplan.com.au for tips on how to keep your family and property safe.

12.01.2022 This morning Firefighters from Eglinton responded to Jenolan, to support Jenolan and Oberon Brigades at a house fire. Our team provided Breathing Apparatus Operators, as well as the Chifley Bulk Water resource, to support the firefighting effort. Unfortunately the structure was heavily impacted by the fire, but thankfully there were no injuries!

11.01.2022 Meet another one of our fantastic #ordinaryhumans here at Eglinton, Dylan! 10.01.2022 This evening Firefighters from Eglinton Rural Fire Service along with other NSW Rural Fire Service brigades, responded to a grass fire burning at Dunkeld. The fire is believed to have been started by farming equipment. It was contained to an approx. 2 hectares in size. Whilst our Summer has been more mild and wet than the last, the risk of fires is still very much real! Take the time to make sure your Bush Fire Survival Plan is up to date, and that each member of your family knows what you'll do and when. More info: www.myfireplan.com.au

09.01.2022 From our family here at Eglinton Rural Fire Service, to you and yours, have a merry, and safe Christmas! We hope that Christmas gives you some much needed joy, for 2020 in particular! Whilst we hope our Firefighters get to enjoy a Christmas with their families, they will of course still be prepared to respond should they be required. If you require emergency assistance, be sure to call 000 immediately. Merry Christmas!

02.01.2022 Déjà vu for the team at Eglinton today, as another animal rescue was completed successfully! This time an echidna had found itself stuck in a small drain, with our team successfully removing it and releasing the little fellow back into the wild. He might have been a little prickly at first, but we think he was pretty happy to see our team! ... #ordinaryhumans NSW Rural Fire Service

01.01.2022 2020, where do we begin? Firstly, we'd like to take the opportunity to thank each and every member of our community for their support, be it in donations of food, supplies or money, the shows of support when we're out and about, or the simple kind words that so many have said in passing. We can't tell you just how much we appreciate knowing that our community supports our team as much as you do! This year has challenged our team personally (as it has for most), but it has a...lso challenged them in every aspect of their Rural Fire Service role as well. From mounting responses every day, for days on end at the beginning of the year, and travelling as part of strike teams to support other communities, to changing the way they operate both on and off the Firetruck thanks to COVID-19. Whilst we look back on 2020 as a year we hope never to repeat, we also look back on it as a year when our community pulled closer together than ever before, and we're certainly grateful for that! So, once again, THANKYOU. Let's hope 2021 brings some brighter times, but continue to be the strong, caring community that we know you to be! Much love, the Eglinton Rural Fire Service team
