19.01.2022 Our member Cathy Nelson is working on this absolutely stunning piece of embroidery designed by Hazel Blomkamp from her book ‘Crewel Creatures’. The design, Shirley the Elephant, features Jacobean elements, 3-dimensional bead-work flowers, and a traditional Zulu bead-work technique! It is coming along beautifully and we look forward to seeing it once Cathy completes it. #egqldsouthport #embroidery #hazelblomkamp #wip

18.01.2022 This week our members enjoyed themselves at our Easter High Tea. The turn out was fantastic and the event allowed our members to mingle with the newer members of the Guild. A big thank you to Committee members who assisted in pulling this event together and for ensuring that COVID-19 protocols were enforced to ensure the afternoon ran smoothly and safely! #egqldsouthport #easter #hightea

13.01.2022 This year we have a number of workshops organised for the benefit of our members. Each workshop focuses on a different form of embroidery. Our member Noelein Armstrong is working on this piece which was the subject of a recent workshop that took place at the Guild. The tutor was our very own member, Keryn Cooper who created this circular floral motif with butterfly. For queries relating to upcoming workshops do not hesitate to contact us. #egqldsouthport #workshops #embroidery #embroideryworkshop #wip

06.01.2022 Our members dabble in a little bit of everything! We certainly encourage people to join our guild in order to learn different things. Our member, Angela Johnston, is knitting a shawl. Specifically, this style of knitting is characterised as Lace Knitting. Knitted lace became extremely popular in Victorian England and a firm favourite of Queen Victoria. Lace designs remain popular to this day and can be formed in any type of knitted fabric. #egqldsouthport #knitting #laceknitting #knittedlace #knittedlaceshawl #wip

01.01.2022 This work in progress is slowly turning into a work of art! Our member, Sue Lamaletie, is working on this exquisite piece of embroidery that incorporates embellishment and a variety of stitches. When completed the plethora of stitches and embellishment will create visually stunning texture and depth. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for more updates on Roger! #egqldsouthport #embroidery #rogertherhino #hazelblomkamp
