25.01.2022 Thank you to ISSA 2019 for the opportunity to present at the annual conference yesterday on the topic of ‘Fire & Smoke Damage - The Challenges’. The presentation provided an insight into hazards on such sites, assessment protocols and actual case studies. https://issacleaninghygieneexpo.com//fire-smoke-damage-th/

24.01.2022 Great effort and achievement by Youi setting the benchmark in the insurance industry and developing and delivering a consistent message and process on water damage and mould claims to dozens of their assessors in four states. Thank you for giving EHS Assess the opportunity to deliver this training. The enthusiasm, energy and appetite to learn was incredible.

23.01.2022 A good write up from RIA on a presentation I gave at the recent RIA Australia Conference on silica dust hazards in the restoration industry. It’s great to see an increased awareness about this issue in the industry. https://cr.restorationindustry.org//Recognizing-the-Hidden

23.01.2022 As we and many of our clients (insurance assessors, loss adjusters and builders etc.) start planning and preparing to enter bushfire affected areas over the coming weeks, planning and proactively identifying and mitigating the unique physical and chemical hazards that that are likely to exist is a must. To assist with this a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a good starting point. If any of my contacts want a complimentary copy of a suitable SWMS that I have developed to get you and teams started on your planning, contact me and I will send you a copy. You can edit and tailor this to your specific needs and start the conversation with your teams/colleagues.

21.01.2022 Remediation and decontamination strategies for commercial jobs are complex and should not be based on assumptions or guesswork. EHS Assess and the restorer are trialling options and qualifying their effectiveness for our client before rolling them out to all areas.

21.01.2022 It’s a wrap! Samples ready for laboratory analysis after an air monitoring campaign that saw us assessing different scenarios over several shifts. The successful outcome was in the meticulous planning with our client. Now it’s over to the laboratory for their part! Contact EHS Assess on 1300 899 747.

21.01.2022 COVID physical distancing requirements on construction sites are challenging, particularity within Alimaks (people/freight lifts). In a recent project, EHS Assess performed a risk assessment of a trial using temporary physical barriers within Alimaks. The engineering control is simple, effective and when coupled with administrative controls our assessment showed it should be the industry standard. 18.01.2022 Interesting comment from NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet urging all workers to return to the work site and get on with the job considering the hazard that has been identified. https://amp.smh.com.au//extremely-high-fungai-levels-in-we

18.01.2022 Today we are assisting our healthcare client implement one of the final steps (Fit Testing) in their Respiratory Protection Program (RPP) as per recent DHHS requirements. At EHS Assess we do things differently and better! Here we worked with our client to develop the framework for their RPP, assisted them in sourcing the required equipment and training of their workers and now they are rolling out their Fit Testing program internally to meet their needs and timeframes. With the right team and our expertise this was achieved in a couple of weeks.

17.01.2022 Thank you to RIA for the opportunity.

17.01.2022 Before running head first into taking dozens of samples for mould, consider the new position statement on the topic from the American industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). One of the key messages for us occupational hygienists is ‘air sampling for mold spores does not and cannot evaluate potential health risks’ The full paper is available at https://lnkd.in/gWX5kqx #waterdamage #ehs #consultant #industrialhygiene

16.01.2022 Interesting developments with ARL Group in WA becoming first laboratory in Australia to receive NATA accredited for air and surface sampling for total mould. https://www.arlgroup.com.au//new-methods-air-sampling-cas/

16.01.2022 Post cleaning validation of a building site following a positive COVID-19 case. The use of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) for hygiene status has been adopted by EHS Assess in this instance and is recommended by IICRC, RIA and IAQA as an indicator of residual contamination of biological origin remaining on a surface.
