25.01.2022 Oh wow. Pizzaperta Manfredi at West HQ. Can they pizza or what? I dropped by for lunch ... and to also record a special announcement: A Slice Of Chifley needs YOU (and your smartphone)! Actually, to be specific: DM me at my Instagram account (@edhusicmp) any pics of you enjoying a pizza from ANY over the places I featured in A SliceOf Chifley - and you might just end up in our final episode. ... Watch the vid - where I savour the fine work of Pizzaperta Manfredi and giving a for their commitment to the environment, in partnership with GreenBox Australia (Also I the improvements WestHQ have made to their place, top eateries, quality presentation and refurb - plus stacks of jobs for our area!)

25.01.2022 Tip of the iceberg, people. How many $$$ have been wasted on this? The government dodges parliament scrutiny on a multi-billion project. National Integrity Commission NOW!

23.01.2022 Today is Probus Day - which is being held in conjunction with the United Nations Day of Older Persons. It's an opportunity to highlight the massive contributions that older people make to our society. A big shout out to the terrific members of our local Probus Club of Mount Druitt. Particularly in these different times we are facing at the moment, thank you for everything you do! Please see contact info below if you or anyone you know would like to join a Probus South Pacific club.

23.01.2022 Why does the Coalition spend so much time picking fights right now? We’re stuck in a Morrison Recession where the government’s top priority should be JOBS (& maybe they could also chase down those companies who got Jobkeeper wage subsidies and managed to pay themselves bonuses or pay out share dividends)

23.01.2022 Governments can make a difference - they need to have the guts to do so. Just ask this bloke. I stood with metalworkers this week demanding the Federal Govt back Aussie steel to save local jobs. The cost of not doing so is heartbreaking. Check this story out: https://amp.9news.com.au//051b119e-e4ac-4aed-b070-1cd38c06... AWU - Australian Workers' Union AMWU - Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union

23.01.2022 Congratulations Dr Thomas Fienberg from Evans High School on being nominated for a 2020 Telstra ARIA Award! It’s so great to see such a talented educator inspiring young students particularly those from Indigenous backgrounds through his Solid Ground program. Good luck Thomas - we’re all behind you! To show your support you can also vote for Thomas by heading to www.aria.com.au/music-teacher/ ... And watch the amazing full video here https://youtu.be/vcBrXOGn7m4

22.01.2022 During the last week I was able to undertake my first regional trips as Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Resources with the exceptional Kristy McBain and Susan Templeman MP In Eden-Monaro I appreciated the chance to chat with the Tumbarumba Vignerons Association, toured Hyne Timber Mill and had a walk thru of Batlow Apples. Meanwhile in Macquarie it was especially good to visit on AustralianFarmers National Ag Day, where we congratulate Australia’s agriculture sector for... helping put high quality food on our tables and growth and employment in our economy (support our farmers and buy local!) Dropped into Bilpin Cider Co and the Bilpin Fruit Bowl to see and hear how they’re getting back on their feet after last year’s terrible fires (you can come up here next weekend to pick your own fruit - and wash it down with a great cider!) I’ve got nothing other than full admiration for the heartfelt and passionate commitment shown by all these businesses to overcome everything nature has thrown at them over the last 12 months (drought, fires and then a pandemic) and still pushing to generate wealth and jobs for regional NSW (& the nation as well, mind you). The only thing that is of concern to me is it is still taking way too long for help to flow through in many cases and we do need to think of ways to protect under threat jobs in those areas

22.01.2022 The reason no one’s accepted responsibility for this awful system in the Morrison Government is because of the person who pushed for it: Scott Morrison

22.01.2022 What a week for the Coalition Govt - & it’s only Thursday

21.01.2022 In NSW it's Labour Day and today I'll think about the guy front and centre of this pic: my old man. Dad worked as a welder all his working life. Tough job, took a lot out of him. Having time to rest and recover from that work always meant something to him and his work mates. Labour Day let’s us remember the efforts of the Eight Hour Movement, spearheaded by unions. Making sure ordinary workers were treated better. ... Started with better hours but led to other things that made a difference: overtime, penalty rates, maternity and paternal leave, workplace health and safety, superannuation. All things worth fighting for then - and today. This year Labour Day takes new meaning, with a pandemic pressuring our economy and jobs. But that doesn’t mean we forget the value of this day and the value of the struggle

21.01.2022 What a difference leadership makes: build new homes, create construction jobs, get the economy growing. This is why Australian Labor Party Jason Clare has been pressing the Morrison Govt to get its act together and invest in social housing - to both build new homes and fund maintenance of existing ones

20.01.2022 JUSTICE OF PEACE REMINDER As my office has relocated to Plumpton, please see JP services available in the Mt Druitt area below A JP will be available in my Plumpton office (Shop 41, Plumpton Marketplace) every Tuesday from 9am to 4pm.

20.01.2022 When will Scott Morrison accept responsibility for this awful scheme?

19.01.2022 Sniff, sniff? Just checking: do you think this passes the sniff test? Remember hearing over last few months how the Coalition’s 2nd rate NBN held up so well through COVID? If it did, why upgrade it? Their 2nd rate network ended up costing the nation nearly DOUBLE what the Coalition said it would (with slower speeds)

19.01.2022 The HSC is always a difficult time in students’ lives but imaging throwing a pandemic on top of that! I recently acknowledged in the Parliament some of the outstanding results 2020 students from the Australian Islamic College of Sydney achieved beating the odds of a difficult year.

18.01.2022 JUSTICE OF PEACE NOTICE As my office has relocated to Plumpton, please see JP services available in the Mt Druitt area below. A JP will be available in my Plumpton office (Shop 41, Plumpton Marketplace) every Tuesday from 9am to 4pm.

17.01.2022 Where in the world is the Health Minister when locals are stuck waiting for access to this vital medicine?

16.01.2022 Avanti's - the peoples' champ. A Slice of Chifley visits to find out why they're so popular. Don’t forget to DM me (on insta @edhusicmp) pics of you enjoying a pizza from ANY of the places I featured in A Slice Of Chifley - and you could feature in our last episode.

14.01.2022 Straight from their own mouth What the Morrison Govt reckons the public will think about paying a Liberal Party donor ten times more for land for a federal project: #AIRORT

14.01.2022 #ShoutoutSaturday A big shout out to the Oakhurst Dolphins Netball Club who train out at Hassall Grove’s Mittigar Reserve. 14.01.2022 Accountability means little to the Coalition. If they won’t do the right thing when caught out, then we must force change ourselves. Starting with a Federal ICAC. (The quotes below are drawn from Jacqueline Maley’s column in today’s Sun Herald)

14.01.2022 The Morrison Govt won’t lift a finger to recover JobKeeper funds from companies claiming they needed it - but later made big profits and paid healthy bonuses to directors Meanwhile, the SAME Morrison Govt STILL targeted average Australians for Robodebt after they said they would stop using the scheme.

13.01.2022 Hey Josh, Tony and Joe called - they want their awkwardly executed idea back... Props to Chris Bowen MP for the quick history reminder

12.01.2022 Our hardworking teachers deserve to be recognised for everything they do day in day out making sure students are getting the best possible education. You can say thanks by nominating an inspiring educator for the 2021 Commonwealth Bank Teaching Awards where they get a chance at a $45,000 Teaching Fellowship at the #CBATeachingAwards More info in comments

11.01.2022 This Coalition Government is great at talk, terrible at delivery. We’ll hear a LOT of promises made before the first recession budget in 30 years. Let’s see what actually gets delivered. Based on their track record...

10.01.2022 Did you know: the Fed Govt has UNDERSPENT over $1bn on infrastructure each year for the LAST SIX YEARS? As you’re traveling on clogged roads or congested trains, remember that as you hear the pre-Budget hype about big spends on infrastructure

They were recently awarded the Premiers Bushfire Emergency Citation to recognise their enormous contributions which played a significant role in the emergency response effort to combat the 2019-2020 bushfires. ... Thank you! As a community we are so grateful for your tireless work.

07.01.2022 These truths about conservatives: they NEVER have a plan to increase your wages they deeply OPPOSE superannuation and their decisions LEAVE YOU POORER now and at retirement ... You deserve better.

07.01.2022 Do you know an inspiring woman in our area who deserves to be recognised? You can nominate her today for a Coral McLean Award - which celebrates the contributions women make to our community. 06.01.2022 Incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of a wonderful person and tremendous contributor to public life: Susan Ryan AO. The Labor family will miss her deeply as will those older Australians who valued her powerful advocacy on their behalf as Age Discrimination Commissioner. Thank you for all your commitment to the causes you cared so deeply about, Susan. ... Story link in comments below

05.01.2022 Shorter take on Coalition mindset: if you’re powerful, you’re safe Companies that grabbed JobKeeper and then paid their directors and investors should PAY IT BACK!... Full interview: https://www.abc.net.au///mornings/josh-frydenberg/13273478

05.01.2022 Busted. Again. The Coalition putting political interest before the interests of taxpayers or communities that deserve better infrastructure Story via The Canberra Times: https://www.canberratimes.com.au//mccormack-under-fire-ov/

05.01.2022 #ShoutoutSaturday Best of luck to Blacktown Mounties Cricket Club starting the Premier Cricket NSW Competition today. 05.01.2022 Who buys 50,000km worth of copper to build a new broadband network? The Coalition, that’s who. And the Coalition’s version of the so-called NBN cost nearly DOUBLE what they promised (and with slower speeds). In this piece I wrote for today’s papers, I take on all the major Coalition claims about the NBN. You can read here: https://link.medium.com/Ke7v7pXO99

05.01.2022 I think we need another app to track down what happened to the COVIDSafe app

05.01.2022 Tomorrow is World Teachers' Day and I wanted to say a huge thank you to all our teachers who are doing so much every day to support young people in getting the best possible education

04.01.2022 Today is International Day of Sign Languages. In these challenging times, Auslan interpreters have been helping our deaf community more than ever and I wanted to send them a big shout out and thank you! I also wanted to show my support by taking part in the The Deaf Society #AuslanCommunityLeadersChallenge2020 and would encourage everyone to give Auslan a go!

04.01.2022 I wonder if this means they’re turning if off, waiting 15 seconds, turning it back on again... Millions spent on this thing first time round, folks. I don’t know how much the new version will cost but I wonder if some in the media will keep describing the app as one of the government’s success stories (as they did when talking about it a few months ago...)

04.01.2022 The Whyalla steelworks are the lifeblood of the whole Whyalla community. They also represent a rich vein within our nation’s proud heritage of steel manufacture. The steelworks are under pressure at the moment. But there’s no doubt our country needs to see them thrive into the future. ... And if they need help Scott Morrison and Steve Marshall need to step up to help where they can

04.01.2022 As you take in all the news today about the rollout delays just bear in mind serious problems existed well before what the Morrison Govt announced late last night. If you’re after some perspective check this out: https://thenewdaily.com.au//alan-kohler-vaccine-complacen/

03.01.2022 Last year said we would be first in queue for COVID vaccine. We weren’t Said we would see 60,000 vaccinations by end of Feb. Didn’t happen Then said 4m by end of March. Missed again, sport Reckons we will all be vaccinated by 31 Oct. Ok then...... (and if all else fails blames the States and Europe) The country - and our economy - needs this rollout to happen smoothly. Just do the job properly!
