25.01.2022 Re: Corona Virus Hi All, Just to advise that the school, kindergarten and playgroup will continue to operate as per their normal routines over the next two weeks at this stage. Some of the events we had planned though during this time have unfortunately been cancelled as they would have brought people together in large numbers. These include: Young Leaders Day, Darlingford Nursing Home Visit, School Leader ANZAC Day Shrine Visit, Cluster Athletics Carnival and Eildon Primary... School Athletics Carnival. These decisions have been made in line with advice from the Department of Education. In accordance with the Department's regular Infectious Diseases Policy unwell students will be sent home. Unwell students should remain at home until symptoms resolve. Everyone arriving into Australia from overseas from midnight, Sunday 15 March, will be required to self-isolate for 14 days. This obviously includes students and family members who may be returning from overseas excursions or other travel. Everyone can protect against infections by practising good hand and respiratory hygiene. Here are some tips that we all can follow: 1. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing with a tissue, or cough into your elbow. 2. Dispose of the tissue into a bin and then wash your hands afterwards. 3. Wash your hands regularly using soap and water, including after using the toilet, and before eating. Please refer to the Department’s coronavirus web page for the latest advice and information. For information and guidance about coronavirus, visit the Department of Health and Human Services’ website: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus. For the latest advice regarding coronavirus and schools, visit the Department of Education and Training’s website: https://www.education.vic.gov.au//d/Pages/coronavirus.aspx Thank you for your cooperation with this important matter, we will keep you informed of any further developments. Regards, Jai Mr Jai Harrington, Principal Eildon Primary School

19.01.2022 When school goes back this week, it'll look a little different. Schools will provide everything our kids need to study remotely but there's always room for ex...tra learning . That's why we're doing this. We're teaming up with ABC Australia to massively expand the educational programming on offer and to bring the classroom into the living room (or dinner table or kitchen). More than 4,000 videos, resources and games will be available on the ABC website that match up with the Victorian curriculum. Educational shows for primary and secondary students will run throughout the day, as well as mini-lessons led by teachers. Nothing will ever replace our incredible teachers and the work they do. But we're making sure every Victorian student has access to as many learning opportunities as possible. BYO chair and bear.

18.01.2022 It's not often that the Victorian flag finds its way to a primary school flag pole, but that's what happens at Eildon Primary School Page. I was proud to join the students and staff for the flag raising assembly.

17.01.2022 Additional Pupil Free Days Hi All, just to advise that the Minister for Education has yesterday approved two additional Pupil Free Days for 2020. The first will be the last day of Term 1 (this Friday) and the second will be the first day of Term 2 (Tuesday 14th April). This will provide school staff with time to prepare for "remote learning arrangements - ie learning from home" should the Chief Medical Officer's advice change. I will send home a more detailed COVID-19 update on Monday. Regards, Jai

07.01.2022 Murrindindi Shire are currently seeking feedback from members of the Eildon Community in regards to the Eildon Reserve Precinct (ie the two parks near the shops). Please don’t miss out on this opportunity to have your say about how those two playspaces should be redeveloped. An architect firm has been engaged to develop a master plan and so far the shire has received very few responses which is not ideal. So.... hop online and visit the Eildon Reserve page of the Shires webpage below and have your ideas heard! The more feedback council receives the more accurately the designs will reflect our wishes! Survey closes Friday 15th May. https://www.murrindindi.vic.gov.au//Eildon-Reserve-Precinc
05.01.2022 Congratulations - Australian Maths Competition In June, Grade 3 6 students participated in the Australian Maths Competition. Congratulations to the following students who received a Credit: Lily-Anne Goninon, Ava Carr, Erica Hodge, Olivia Gourlay, Toby Hall, Ashlyn Newman... Everyone participated very well, as a school there were 11 Proficient and 5 Participation rankings. These results show a great improvement in Maths, particularly in student’s problem solving skills. This relates to our school value of Achievement, which continues to build. In March we participated in the Kangarou Sans Frontieres, also run by the Australian Maths Competition where Jasmine Hunkin also attained a Credit. Great Effort by all of our students, we look forward to next year’s competition!
