24.01.2022 When it comes to the science of coffee, an often overlooked topic is GRIND. The longer your coffee grounds are exposed to hot water, the coarser the grind needs to be. A grind that’s too fine will overexpose the surface area to heat and result in harsh or bitter tones. Brewing methods such as French press demand an extra coarse grind, down to stovetop espresso where a fine grind is best. Ideally, you also want a consistent grind, which for coffee nerds like us, means ditching your manual grinder for a good quality electric one.
