09.01.2022 Good morning Queenslanders!! I hope that you are all keeping safe and well.. With our first Feis for 2020 only 12 sleeps away here are some updates. The member...s of the Executive and branch have been working super hard to ensure the smooth and safe running of this Feis.. So we ask for your co operation as we head into the new normal Unfortunately our vendors: Reel Celtic and Ditto Dancewear are unable to attend our Feis, but they are taking pre paid orders for collection. So if you need socks, buckles, pins etc.. please contact Anile or Janie to arrange directly. We will be running the Feis from the youngest age groups through to the older groups. Dancers will all start with soft shoes and will need to bring their hardshoes, tape, own scissors, water bottle etc with them to marshalling. NO second hand dresses or shoes will be able to be hung in the venue nor are shoes to be tried on. Please use various second hand social media sites to see your goods. a registration desk will be at the front door and everyone must sign in. We ask that only 1 member of family attends the Feis- ensuring that they are feeling well and adhere to our social distancing guidelines If dancers have their AIDA Qld registration number from last year -please bring it along with you. there will be a candy bar open - but you are welcome to bring your own food and drinks. an updated map and guidelines will be sent out to teachers for distribution closer to the Feis. Stay tuned for more updates! Have a great day and enjoy the start of term 3! Jennifer Devlin President AIDA QLD

06.01.2022 St Patrick’s Day Feis Postponed It is with a heavy heart that we postpone our St Patrick’s Day Feis that was to be held this weekend at the beautiful More...ton Bay College. We as a branch are really hoping to run this new Feis a little later in the year, and look at extending the dancing calendar. Our main priority is the health and well being of all our fabulous dancers, teachers, parents and supporters and hope you are all keeping well. Stay tuned for updates. Stay safe Jennifer
06.01.2022 This week we made the sad decision to close our classes down for the time being, to protect our dancers and the community. We will be continuing our classes online for our existing dancers and hope we will all be together again soon. Please stay safe and keep following our page as I’ll be posting bits and pieces as I find interesting things for dancers. In the meantime, here’s our dancing teddy bears from last year’s AIO if you need something silly to make you smile #sou...ndon Sending everyone lots of love, Tara and Charmaine
04.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that we advise that a decision has been made by the AIDA Inc. Council to cancel the 2020 Australian Championships that was scheduled to... be held in Perth in September/October. This has not been an easy decision as it will be the first time in 53 years that the Australian Irish Dancing Championships will not go ahead. The Federal Government restrictions on mass gatherings and social distancing, gave the Council no alternative but to make the decision to cancel the event for the health and welfare of our community. We can advise that the AIDA Council is working with the Perth Convention Centre to secure dates for the 2021 Australian Irish Dancing Championship event and as soon as these dates have been secured a notification will be sent to the membership. Keep well and safe and hopefully it will not be too long before restrictions start to be lifted. Regards, Christine Portbury SDCRG National President Australian Irish Dancing Association
