25.01.2022 While you're buying your tickets to Into The Woods, have you checked out the rest of the Botanica Lumina program? Why not also treat your ears to an operatic performance in the idyllic Adelaide Botanic Garden setting this spring with Co-Opera's new production of Acis and Galatea? Acis and Galatea is G. F. Händel’s beloved Greek myth in which two lovers are forever split when Polyphemus kills Acis in a brutal, jealous rage. In mourning, Galatea transforms Acis into an ever-flo...wing river. The opera full of wit, pathos and exquisite music is a warning about the transitory nature of love and pleasure. Co-Opera has a long tradition of sharing opera in fun, accessible performances. They have taken their productions to pubs, parks, and even shearing sheds across the country and overseas. Now they are bringing their outdoor performance to Adelaide Botanic Garden! Enjoy the natural surroundings with a backdrop of majestic trees, as the stage and gardens are gradually transformed from sunset as the opera builds to its climax. Immerse yourself in Händel’s exquisite music sung by some of Adelaide’s finest young singers, accompanied by the premier baroque orchestra, Ensemble Galante, in this thrilling new production. 21.01.2022 Continuing our look back at past shows: in the same year... Carmen- produced by EITR in 2017. Bizet’s Carmen was Elephant in the Room’s second production. Directed by OAM awarded opera director, Tessa Bremner, and Conducted by Gordon Hamilton Composer, musical director of The Australian Voices and acclaimed international orchestra conductor, this lavish production was set right in the heart of Port Adelaide at the end of the roaring 20s and presented in the iconic heritage space at Hart’s Mill. To tie in with the themes of intimate partner violence and abuse that weave through the narrative, Elephant in the Room Productions took the opportunity to work with the Zahra Foundation in order to raise awareness of, and money for the important work they do in the community to help victims of these issues.

18.01.2022 Today we share the last of our shows from the vault with our 2020 Adelaide Fringe productions. First up, Kacey Stephensen. Kacey Stephensen is a multi award winning folk singer, song writer, poet and story teller in the Celtic tradition who has toured around Australia including appearances at the Woodford Folk Festival. 18.01.2022 All through this week we'll be posting memories of our past shows to take a look back at where we came from: Let's take a step back in time and see where EITR Productions started... Freya, Thor, Loki, Odin These names are legendary, but do you know their story? In 2017 Elephant in the Room Productions launched our premiere work: Midnight Sun An evening of Icelandic Myth and Music. 8 singers in an a cappella celebration of the music of Iceland all the way from the poetry... of the ancient Vikings through to modern greats like Bjork and Jonsi. Interspersed between the stunning musical arrangements were original re-tellings of the myths of Nordic legend, retelling the story of the world from its creation through to Ragnarok: The Twilight of the Gods. First presented in St Peter’s Cathedral, the show has become the flagship presentation of EitR, having been presented at museums and cultural centres across South Australia, and touring nation-wide, including performances at the Festival of Voices in Hobart, and the Wesley Music Centre in Canberra. 18.01.2022 ...and lastly, our final production from the vault, "Positive- Presented by Katie Elle Jackson Music " Tired of being told to look on the bright side of life? In 2020 we produced award winning comedy singer-songwriter Katie Elle Jackson and her Xbox lovin' hubby Chris, as they tried to remain positive through original songs, comedy and personal stories. The Sydney Arts Guide describes Jackson as "Delicious to watch and hear" and Australian Stage calls her a naturally effortless singer. For this year’s Adelaide Fringe we brought those talents to Port Adelaide and for two nights transformed a simple courtyard into a toe-tappin’ Cabaret Club.

12.01.2022 Introducing our cast of 'Into The Woods'. Meet Andrew James as The Steward. Andrew James is an emerging artistic performer new to the Adelaide scene. Born in South Africa, Andrew fostered his love of singing and acting in his youth through school and private tutoring. He received praise and awards for many of his performances and this helped him grow a love for the arts industry. When asked as a child what he wanted to be, Andrew would always say 'an actor!'... Subsequent to primary and tertiary education, Andrew continued his music and singing on the sideline but instead chose to pursue other artistic endeavors like ceramics, painting and figurine crafting for a number of decades, even making a living from his crafts in Capetown. Andrew is excited to be rediscovering his childhood dreams of singing by taking vocal instruction again, picking up musical instruments that had dusted over in the attic and pursuing the six-year-olds' dream of acting. Despite a number of productions falling victim to Covid 19, Andrew is delighted to be making his debut in the musical 'Into The Woods' with Elephant in the Room Productions. You can also listen to Andrew on radio CoastFM.com.au where he volunteers as a fill in Community presenter. Don’t miss seeing Andrew this November!
