25.01.2022 Tuesday's magic
25.01.2022 How to fill ones heart in a moment *Sound Warning * Excited squeals* The power behind this is phenomenal, just 2-3 kicks of the tail and a 40 tonne humpy chooses to fly ... We'd been tracking along with this Mumma and playful calf for at least 10 mins or so before this eruption If you look closely at the second half of the video you'll see the third whale zooming past (to the right under water) this is an escort that, well simply put, wasn't welcome with this mumma !! Every time I see these creatures it's a beautiful blessing, thank you for sharing your powerful presence with us today humpies Huge thanks to @whalesharkdive for getting us out there @ejsencounters
24.01.2022 Remember that time the whale shark came to check the boat out ...!! What a season ! The whale sharks season has come to an end here on the Ningaloo, but never fear we're still getting out there doing Eco tours with @whalesharkdive ... There is so much life on the Ningaloo this time of year, humpbacks, dolphins, turtles - even starting to see maring turtles already! - dugongs manta rays, not to mention the reef and all its beautiful inhabitants, will always keep our fingers crossed for a whale shark too! Need more info, get in touch! @ejsencounter @ Ningaloo Reef
23.01.2022 So many friends Can you see the Whaleshark ?! EJs Encounters... Taken at work with Three Islands Whale Shark Dive
22.01.2022 This is the 3rd humpback to be caught up in nets in Aus that I've seen this year already & I don't follow or watch the news... The world is a crazy place that is still full of beauty, we have a voice and I ask you to use it - lets drop the nets
20.01.2022 This remote beach clean-up was undertaken right here on our precious World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Coast and these were the findings: 2016 there were 885 pieces removed 2017 there was 3,202 pieces removed 2020 there was 18,000 pieces removed !!... 4 main plastic types were found - 1. Plastic film 2. Plastic cups 3. Nurdles (are the raw material for almost every plastic product on Earth) 4. Rope So here's some solutions/actions that YOU can individually do to help our precious oceans: 1. Very simply: don't purchase anything wrapped in plastic - yes it can be a challenge, but when we have stores like Ningaloo Bulk Foods on our door step it becomes a personal and educated CHOICE and a good old habit change. 2. Keep Cup / Jar / Dine in 3. Do what ever you can to purchase sustainable materials - for everything from Pens to Hair Brush, Chairs to Water bottles Even better then that, get yourself to a pre loved store <3 4. Where you can, choose natural fibre Don't wait for the governing bodies to do something - we don't have time to wait. Make the choice to refuse, reuse, reduce today - the ocean and I will love you for it :) Again one of my favourite sayings: "You think your too small to make a difference, try being stuck in a room with a mosquito..." 20.01.2022 Hooly Dooly Jooly!!! Another tick of my 'haven't seen that yet' list! Nothing dies of old age in the ocean... the weak, diseased, slow & unable become something's dinner and in this case, this turtle was afternoon tea for a couple of tiger sharks! Incredible to witness ! ... So stoked that the girls from Q were able to join us today !! All this PLUS swimming with 3 manta rays, a whaleshark, watching humpies play, not to mention the beautiful morning snorkel!!! Our Ningaloo Eco Tours are going off at the moment!! Thanks a million Three Islands Whale Shark Dive for getting us out there to witness the magic of Ningaloo once again!! EJs Encounters

12.01.2022 Biggest prey vs predator happened right in front of our very eyes a few weeks ago. A mum and her escort fought for at least the hour (that we witnessed) to keep her calf safe, but sadly they did not succeed. The West Australian humpback whale population has come back in huge numbers from whaling days and with that comes a natural predator that also need a to eat. ... The force from the Orca, the skill and agility was fascinating to watch. Then hearing the trumpeting and the grunts from the humpbacks was heartbreaking all at the same time! Such a rollercoaster of emotions, but feeling some how privileged to have been there. The circle of life. On this image you can see the Orca lunging over the mum having just knocked the calf off her head... how's the water on the Orca face again the speed and power is incredible. 09.01.2022 Being a West Australian, I am feeling beyond grateful that we are in such a fortunate situation to have had our regional boarders lifted. That we as a state, are able to 'travel' within our HUGE Western Australian boarders. When looking around this beautiful planet of ours, at our fellow human beings and what the rest of the world is still dealing with, I think it is a refreshing reminder as to just HOW fortunate we West Aussies really are. Now in saying this, It is startlin...g to learn the Australian Federal Government has announced vast areas along the Ningaloo World Heritage area for potential oil and gas exploration. As thousands of WA people plan trips to the Ningaloo area many of you will also have seen the concerning media in the last few days which makes crystal clear the intent of the oil and gas industry to further encroach on the Ningaloo-Exmouth Gulf area. The areas are really close to Ningaloo and if released to industry, oil rigs would be a few km from the Ningaloo World Heritage area - as close as the Cottesloe to Rottnest swim! Oil and gas here in this area would mean deafening underwater noise impacting whales, dolphins, turtles and fish, and the risk of oil spills or rig blowouts. Help us draw a line in the sand, and Protect Ningaloo! It is one of WA's stunning features, HOME to ocean creatures that have no where else to go... some live here all year round, some migrate 1000's and 1000's of Kilometres to this safe place to reproduce. Please help us and our incredible ocean creatures by adding your name to this letter: https://www.protectningaloo.org.au/stop-industrialisation/ and supporting this fantastic organisation Protect Ningaloo

08.01.2022 A gift from Mother Nature
07.01.2022 All in the creation of life We were lucky enough to witness this beautiful big mumma laying her eggs the other morning while taking part of a voluntary turtle monitoring programme up here on the Ningaloo Reef. By following the recommended guidelines as to not disturb her, we were able to get a close look at the magic of the turtles circle of life. Did you know that every female will return to the same beach they were hatched on to lay their eggs! ... It truly is a fascinating world we live in @ejsencounters
