25.01.2022 We love to help parents create a more eco-conscious space with our children’s products. And here are 5 ways we do it: - Our plywood is sourced from managed forestry and ethical labour. - Non toxic, E0 and/or E1 VOC in our materials, no nasties vapours and therefore contributing for better indoor air quality. - Small carbon foot print, designed and made locally. Transported to your home by a carbon neutral courier.... - Our (good looking) packaging is recycled, recyclable and plastic free. - Working towards maximising efficiency, less waste and carbon neutral foot print. Curious fact: Did you know, trees not only produce the air we breathe but also absorb 1 tonne of CO2 in a span of 40 years during its life time? Pretty awesome, hey?

11.01.2022 For a whole week! I’m currently designing a few new products to hopefully launch before Xmas , is there something that would you like to see/ have and haven’t seen it around that could be really handy for the ages of 2-6 years old? I would love to know

10.01.2022 While koalas are popular worldwide and one of the favorite Aussie animals, there are some facts that people might not know about this iconic and lovable mammal. 1. Koalas aren’t bears they’re marsupials! While they might look bear-like with their round ears and big black nose, they actuallyshare more characteristics with other marsupials like the wombat. 2. Baby koalas are too cute (fact!).... Called ‘joeys’, baby koalas develop in their mother’s pouch for about six months. After this time, they’ll ride on their mum’s backfor another six months, only using the pouch to feed and sleep. 3. Koalas have a hard butt Living in trees and being wedged between rough branches requires a lot of support! Luckily, the koala has strong cartilage at the end of their curved spine, allowing them to make eucalyptus trees a comfortable home! Particularly handy when you need to sleep for 18hour a day. 4. Koalas can be found in southeastern and eastern Australia Whilekoalas are a national symbol of Australia’s unique wildlife, they can only be found in the wild on the southeast and eastern sides of Australia, along the coastlines of Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria. They live high up in eucalyptus trees of native bushlands and forests, usually perched between the forks of the tree’s branches. 5. They’re fussy eaters! Koalas survive on a diet of eucalyptus leaves and can eat up to a kilogram a day!Pretty impressive, considering eucalyptus is poisonous to most animals.Their special fibre digesting organ, called a caecum, helps to detoxify the chemicals in the leaves. However, they can be quite picky eaters, eating less than 50 of over 700 eucalyptus species. Even then, they’ll often choose leaves at the top of the tallest trees that contain more liquid and nutrients. At the moment, we have a once-in-10-year opportunity to turn things around for our struggling Aussie wildlife. Right now, the Australian Government is reviewing our nature laws - The Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999. The review’s interim report has stated that our laws are currently failing our wildlife and their homes. Cont. in comment

05.01.2022 Here it is, all of the Koala collection in one little square. Kye Koala chalkboard has been one of the Ekokids most popular products. It’s so much fun and rewarding , to create a product , and having you lovely people wanting to have them in your homes One of my favourite parts of my little biz, is the journey of the design process, it allows you to add fun details that will complement the design, without interfering with the function and maintain a nice flow across the products. If you had to choose one of the Koala products , which one would it be?

02.01.2022 A little back story about that print of Yoshitomo Nara. Hubby found it at the local op shop for about $4, we paid for it and soon realised in the car, it actually was fine art print! What a great score! Specially for hubby as he is a fan is Yoshitomo’s artwork. This must be the most traveled print around the corners of our house. What was your best op shop find?

01.01.2022 Most people don't know this, it all started with a handmade business, cutting plywood by hand, making quirky decor for my daughters' room. Living on the other side of the world, and barely knowing anyone. I quickly fell in love with the fact , I had found a way to keep myself mentally busy , by creating playful, functional shapes and eco conscious products for children. Which later on it became one of Ekokids core beliefs. It's funny, the other day I found an old photo, from 2009, that hubby took of me, where I was creating a corner table for my then toddler, in order to reuse the uncountable formula cans we had laying around, and somehow desperately wanted to deal with all of that waste. I look back and ask myself , was I subsconsciously sowing seeds for a future Ekokids furniture?
