25.01.2022 recent news article on my thoughts about the gender pay gap...... Elam Cabling Group managing director Lyn Evans, with decades of experience in the telecommunications sector as worker and employer, said she did not believe the sectors pay gap was a result of inequality. The average man might earn $321 a week more than the average woman but she maintained any two workers on the same job and with the same qualification would earn the same money, regardless of gender.... (Employers) have to pay people by their classification but there is a big pool of men with exceptional niche expertise jobs that drag up their average, she said. A lot of high-paying jobs are also in harsh environments (such as the mines) and traditionally youve got a much higher percentage of men (in those roles) than you do women. She said women who took time off work to raise children might also fall behind their male counterparts as they were not spending that time working their way up the pay scale. 23.01.2022 You have to hand it to some of these NBN installers. The fibre core hasnt been put in protecive duct. It has been painted into the white wall. The blue cat6 lead has then been artfully tossed over the ceiling - and you cant close the ceiling tiles now. I was confused and so was the client. Lucky we sorted this little mess up AND the cabinet in about two hours flat.

Our Project was judged by some of the best technical people in the country. Im super proud of the effort that everyone at Elam put in for this. 13.01.2022 Finished! The Sydney University Great hall Lighting Project. On Time, on budget. This large LED / DMX lighting project and Switchboard upgrade now highlights the wonderful and Heritage listed Great Hall is all its glory. We used a combination of Scissor and Spider Lifts for access. Old Lights were upgraded internally with the latest in DMX controlled LED fittings. Lighting Bars sit discreetly above the walls. Statues, Guilded Angels and Paintings have come to life!. Im very proud of my Elam team!

09.01.2022 About to deploy a large number of 100Gig Multimode and Singlemode active links. A couple of things to remember when installing.. The switches are expensive and HEAVY. It takes time to get the correct cable lengths ordered, made and shipped. Check the transceivers you are ordering match your cable infrastructure. (we are deploying QSFP28s)... If using OM3 instead of OM4, make sure the length is under 70 metres. Are existing fibre cables up to the task? Just because they work on 10Gig doesnt mean that they will work on 100Gig. TEST!!
