25.01.2022 The 17.5 hr flight was worth this wedding a while back ... the one and only Elle & José Every time I look at this intimate photo of them, I just think of Simba & Nala from the Lion King (It may subconsciously have something to do with the fact that José is an animator for Disney ... and beyond talented to say the least!) Who else loved the Lion King movie growing up as a kid?! Disney IS a religion in itself - wouldnt you agree?

25.01.2022 Alicia + Alista ... sisters, twins, best friends. The morning of Alicia's wedding, her beautiful sister Alista moved mountains for her to make sure her sister had a stress free morning before her First Look in the garden with Aaron. Alista helped me carry the dress out into the garden (and trying to avoid spider webs being caught in the hanger lol), moving shoes around to the right window to get the perfect light for her detail shots ... and always asking Alicia 'how are you feeling?' as they both got their hair and make up done as they sipped on orange juice & champagne... its safe to say, the greatest gift our parents ever gave us growing up was each other

23.01.2022 This time of year when people organise Family photography sessions, a common question is: What do I wear? ... I gotchu boo! Think pastels, creams, textures & soft blues to an accent colour - stay away from patterns, logos, and warmer colours like reds & bright pinks etc. (unless you go with a classy maroon accent which can look really classy). Wearing these colours can reflect off the face & make your skin look pink - freal!... White crisp jeans are a beautiful alternative to the tradition denim jeans - completely up to you! The face is the focus in these family portrait sessions - what you want to do is create a clean flow between tones of the location & wardrobe so all you see in the frame are facial expressions, laughter, emotion & the members of your family. Guys, wear something with a collar, either long or short sleeve, no T shirts! Cinos are perfect as well as opposed to the denim look! If you have a beautiful dress watch with a brown strap, or a gold/silver one it adds a nice touch. Also if you have a subtle dress chain it brings it altogether Converse shoes or cute boat shoes always slay too ... just saying! Ladies, anything lace & dresses always work with some beautiful brown/cream flats with a bit of gold texture in them. Dont be afraid to go heavy on the make up - the camera does wash out the everyday look! Clean neutral nails, either soft pink or cream/white. Also dont be afraid to accessorise x 3! ... Also for a different variation to sneak in at the end, bring a jacket / blazer either white, pastel pink or denim works nicely Hope this gives you inspo! Any questions?! Hit me up!

Dayum!... I'm so grateful to have the most beautiful clients who've kept in touch & have referred me over the years... To see all their family adventures unfold well after makes me smile

14.01.2022 What are your feelings about Mondays? Ive always loved them because they're my days off! Today, I want to give you a peek into my Monday routine & share some things that recharge me after a crazy weekend of shooting weddings! ... In the morning, I'll usually sit at a cafe near the water reading a book or writing out what I'm grateful for, if I'm lucky I'll get to spend time with my little niece at the park & get all mushy over how fast she's growing (no clucky-stuff,... but close) ... I might hop on Pinterest for some creative inspo, then late afternoon a PT session before I attempt to adult on a weekly grocery shop so I don't resort to a spontaneous Donut-only diet. How do you do Mondays?!

Last Saturday we all spent the afternoon at the Farm together capturing this exciting new chapter. Elena is nailing this big sister role to a tee! 09.01.2022 Hey guys! How you all doing in ISO at the moment? Lets get to know each other, COVID edition During quarantine, Ive been eating a lot of spaghetti & running along the harbour a few times a week to keep me from chewing my arm off ... I now live in Hoodies & Lorna Jane tights 7 days a week - which is my dream manifested into reality really 2 days ago the nights got so much colder, I went out & stocked up on enough bed socks to last me to Winter 2023. Anyone else feeling it? And I do miss my Mum I popped in the other day to pick up my guitar Ive had since I was 17 She opened her front door, jumped back and shouted in her cute little 5 foot Asian voice dont kiss me! But seriously, all of this has been a nice reset to clear some space for the creative projects Ive been dying to work on! Now tell me about yourself in the comments, COVID-style!

08.01.2022 Fresh colours at Ravensthorpe for Sarah & her girls Sarah grew up with brothers only. She told me her & her cousin Lauren (far left) were as close as sisters growing up. They were the two females out of all the cousins. When it came to the wedding day, Lauren was by her side... thrilled to see her cousin marry the man of her dreams, helping to make Sarah's day stress free, danced a jig until the end of reception ... and tied up the groom's shoelaces on ...location while he sipped on champaigne lol. Often I come across bridesmaids who couldn't be more thrilled even if it were their own wedding, those are the best kind of bridesmaids. The ones who will crunk it with you on the dance floor until midnight & grab you a tissue when you cry tears of happiness. Anyone else have that cousin that may as well have been your sister? 08.01.2022 Hello, you beautiful people! As I reflect now on the 11 year anniversary of Ela Studios, I cant help but share this. For those of you who dont know me, Im Pamela, owner of Ela Studios, nature buff & Chai Latte Lover. I started my business 11 years ago as a medicinal chemistry Uni drop out from UOW, with $2,000 savings in my bank account & a dream to build a business from my passion.... So the creative dream began & the plan to be a Dentist was history (sorry Mum) - and then began the Monday to Thursday 5-9pm night fill shift at Target Shellharbour while I hustled & built my photography business during the day. I emailed 200 photographers on the first 20 pages of Google asking for work experience, to get 2 responses back and one woman who took me under her wing for a day. I locked myself in my room for 3 months straight watching photoshop video tutorials on my Pink Sony VAIO I thought was the coolest thing at the time My first ever wedding, I booked on Gumtree. I charged $150 for a few hours, totally inexperienced & no plan. I fell asleep on the car drive home as my boyfriend chauffeured me around for the day. I was exhausted. But was so pumped ... I was like a duck in a pond in my first few years. Cool, calm & collected on the surface, but paddling like crazy underneath. Ive made plenty of mistakes, and at times Ive wanted to quit. Today, after 11 years - If I could look back & give advice to the 18 year old Pamela who had to park her 96 Ford festiva bomb around the corner heading into client meetings, it would be: To never give up. To always get back up. And to always remember where you came from. As cliche as it sounds - dayum it feels good to be here For those of you whove followed the journey, and have jumped in at whatever point to follow me ... thank you And Cheers to you! 02.01.2022 Many years ago Ash, Alicia & I frolicked the fields of Gerringong & took this shot Moments later, we all got back on the bus to reception COVERED in bugs from trekking through a stockpile of long yellow grass that made you feel like you were Belle in beauty in the beast I distinctly remember these tiny black things crawling up my legs sitting behind the drivers seat, a bridesmaid pointing them out to me & another helping me dust them off. ... We all giggled at how fun it was & the things we did to get a good photo that afternoon After we got back to reception, it took an hour or so for the itching to die down completely. I looked back through my camera sitting at my table in between formalities & found this shot - To me, it was so worth it What do you think? See more
