They are taking care of their plants every day, eagerly waiting for something to sprout. Learning Outcome 2.4 Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment.

23.01.2022 Children are attempting to plant some lettuce and basil seeds. Children used critical thinking skills to determine what seeds need to grow. They also predicted how long it would take for them to grow. The consensus was that seeds need water and soil to grow, and that it would take about 100 days to really long for them to grow. Lets wait to see if their predictions are correct! Learning Outcome 4.2 Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching and investigating.
23.01.2022 This year will be hosting a Food Drive for the Salvation Army who will be gifting food donations to families who are in need during the festive season. As COVID-19 continues to impact individuals, families and communities across the country, your support now is more important than ever. Every donation, no matter how big or small can help us make sure we leave no one in need this festive season. We would like to invite our families and community to take part in our food drive... by donating food items that are new/unopened and are non-perishables with long expiry dates. Donations will be accepted over the next few weeks leading into early December. We would like to thank our families who have already dropped off donations. 18.01.2022 Milking the cow To extend on childrens interest on farm animals, Educators have set up an activity where children have the opportunity to milk cows! First, Educators showed children a video on what we needed to do to get the milk out. Next, we asked children some questions, for example where does milk come from?! Children replied with cows following with the sound of the cow, mooo. What do we need to do to get the milk out? Children replied with you need to squeeze! After the quick video, it was time to experience this! Children squeezed the gloves that had milk in it and watched as the milk poured out. Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners
18.01.2022 Children have been discussing all the different types of plants, seeds and flowers that they see in our yard or in their garden at home, so we decided to do some planting and growing ourselves! We also touched on the topic of where our food comes from, stating that it could come from our very own gardens! Growing our own vegetables and fruit is one way that we are able to help our environment. We started by preparing our garden beds with new soil, but we also put some seeds ...in a Ziplock bag, along with a well saturated paper towel. We stuck our Ziplock bags onto a window where there was lots of sun. We also wanted to do a little experiment with the children, showing exactly what seeds need to sprout and germinate, so we did the same thing with another 3 sets of seeds, but one set did not have any water, one was to be put in the fridge and the last set were practically swimming in their Ziplock bag. Children had mixed answers about what would happen to the seeds. EYLF outcomes 1.3 Children develop knowledgeable and confident self-identities. 2.4 Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment. 4.1 Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity. 4.2 Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching and investigating.
