18.01.2022 Bad weather ahead! Prepare your home now! Over the next few days, the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a broad trough and low-pressure system to roll across... southeast Australia. This will bring some showers and thunderstorms, mostly to inland NSW during Friday and Saturday, and extending to northeast NSW on Sunday. This low is likely to deepen near the NSW coast in the days afterwards, bringing the potential for heavy rainfall that may lead to flash and riverine flooding, damaging wind gusts and surf. 14.01.2022 GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT CONCERNING COMMUNITY/LOCAL STREET MEETINGS IN RELATION TO THE GREEN WATTLE CREEK FIRE: There has been many comments on this Facebook page r...e notifications for localised meetings etc. ALL residents can be assured the Public Liaison Team within the Incident Management Team for this current bushfire emergency is working tirelessly to ensure that residents are provided with the most up to date information. It is necessary however that localised meetings need to be organised at very short notice considering the most urgent need. The events over the past week around the Oakdale, Werombi and Orangeville areas should demonstrate to ALL within the warning areas the dynamic nature of fire. Fire with the right conditions will move very fast, increase in size very quickly and become dangerous and destructive. This should prompt immediate action by every resident to prepare themselves for any change in fire activity. The Green Wattle Creek fire has now burnt a very large area of over 100,000 ha, is NOT CONTAINED and given the ongoing weather situation coupled with the drought will not be controlled for some time. Residents MUST play their part and should follow these three main points: Monitor at all times the movement of the fire Ensure that you have reviewed with ALL of your family your Bush Fire Survival Plan and if you do not have a plan know what you will do if you are impacted by fire Ensure that you are ready to act if the situation changes You should also understand the daily Fire Danger Rating and the Bushfire Warning Levels and how the Warning Alerts are used. Community Meetings are planned and ready to go as the need dictates however they may need to be called at short notice and they will be notified via this Facebook page. For the residents of Thirlmere discussions have already taken place with the Thirlmere RFB Captain and will happen in accord with the previous paragraph.
