25.01.2022 R U OK? DAY Today Elderslie ELC are celebrating R U OK? day in which we encouraged all the children to attend school in their yellow attire. R U OK?s vision is a world where were all connected and are protected from suicide.... Their mission is to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with people around them and support anyone struggling with life. Their goals are to: 1. Boost our confidence to meaningfully connect and ask about lifes ups and downs 2. Nurture our sense of responsibility to regularly connect and support others 3. Strengthen our sense of belonging because we know people are there for us 4. Be relevant, strong and dynamic Therefore tomorrow the children will be engaging in yellow arts and crafts, discussing emotions and engaging in friendship building activities. Thank you for everyone that participated and wore yellow today! You all looked great.



24.01.2022 KANGAROO'S SCHOOL READINESS Over in our book corner the kangaroos enjoyed exploring their new nature area. The children had so much fun playing with the toy animals in the different natural elements such as sand, bark, rocks and even water. This activity also links to our school readiness program for the week as the children continue to focus on and develop their cognitive skills as mix and water to create wet sand in which they use their fine motor and sensory skills to mould and manipulate into different shapes and objects.

24.01.2022 WOMBATS SCHOOL READINESS This week for our school readiness program the Wombats are learning about the world, particularly about Australia and where we live. Today we explored all of the different states and territories in Australia, through a really cool song and visual. It is great to see that the children can confidently recognize that we live in Australia and in New South Wales.

24.01.2022 ELLA Throughout the week the Wombats participated in taste testing different foods from Japan for ELLA. The children taste tested Japanese rice crackers, shrimp flavored chips along side many other different foods from Japan.... All the children loved all the different snacks and were very intrigued on the different foods that Japan has.

23.01.2022 Wombat’s School Readiness This week for the Wombats school readiness program, the Wombats have been revising their knowledge of shapes and using this knowledge to recognise lots of different shapes around us. Throughout the week the Wombat children engaged in a shape rocket ship cut and paste, which then extended to lots of self exploration cut and pasting and drawing. All the Wombats did extremely well and found this activity to be very fun, entertaining and educational.

22.01.2022 WEEKLY WRAP UP This week the wombats have been participating in lunch box week to prepare them for big school next year. The children have been really enjoying picking their own lunches and getting to sit down in circle with their friends to eat just like at big school.

21.01.2022 Today at Elderslie ELC we are celebrating Footy Colours Day encouraging children to come to school dressed in their favourite footy colours to show awareness of the Cancer Council. Fight Cancer Foundations Footy Colours Day is a national fundraising campaign held during the month of September to support kids living with cancer. Schools, workplaces, groups and clubs across Australia are encouraged to wear their favourite footy teams colours and host an event to raise much-...needed funds. Every dollar raised supports Fight Cancer Foundations education programs to help kids with cancer continue with their education during treatment and recovery. During the day the children engaged in creatively designing their own jerseys and engage in football games and activities.m Thank you all for dressing up and supporting this cause.

20.01.2022 CONGRATUALTIONS We would like to officially announce and say a huge congratulations to Miss Mel (Director) for having a gorgeous baby boy! Miss Mel gave birth on the 27th of August at 3:05pm to a baby boy which she named Danny Ray Wiggins, weighing 7.6lbs and 53cm long.... Both Mel, her husband and Danny are doing amazing and currently enjoying time at home with their newest arrival.

20.01.2022 Kangaroo’s School Reainess This week for the Kangaroo’s school readiness, the kangaroos continued to develop their cognitive skills through construction. Throughout the week the children engaged in a range of different activities including a pebble construction game wher the children were sat at the tables and provided with pebbles and images of constructions made of pebbles ,the children were encouraged to work together in their small groups and use the images as inspira...tion to create something with their pebbles. All the children did extremely well within this weeks activities and showed a large interest within using their cognitive thinking and construction abilities.



20.01.2022 Book Week DAY 5- Last Day Elderslie ELC is celebrating book week! Throughout the whole week we are encouraging the children to dress up as their favourite book characters. ... Each year since 1945 the CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian childrens authors and illustrators. Educator teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians create colourful displays, develop activities, run competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading. Well done to all the children and staff for dressing up today as their favourite book characters! Can you guess what book each staff dressed up as? Thank you all for dressing up in your fabulous costumes to this week!!

18.01.2022 HAPPY EDUCATORS DAY Here at Elderslie ELC, we are celebrating educators day for all the hard work our wonderful educators do daily for children and families. Early Childhood Educators Day recognises and celebrates the work of Australias educators in early learning services for their wonderful contribution to the wellbeing and healthy development of the young children in their care. ... Its a chance to say thank you to Australias early childhood educators on a very personal level by service operators, families and their children, as well as collectively at the national level. All the staff are enjoying a delicious lunch today to celebrate Educators day provided by our wonderful owners and management. We wanted to say a huge thank you to all the amazing educators here at Elderslie ELC.

18.01.2022 FATHERs DAY To celebrate Fathers Day Elderslie s ELC is holding a bbq!... This will begin at 3pm so as all the wonderful fathers pick up their children they are able to grab a delicious sausage sizzle on the go!! Many Australians observe Fathers Day on the first Sunday of September. It is a day for people to show their appreciation for fathers and father figures. We hope all the fathers have a wonderful Fathers Day this Sunday!

17.01.2022 DENTIST VISIT Elderslie ELC organised for a Free Dental Service to attend the service today. All the children loved getting their teeth check from the professional dentist. The company provided on-site oral health check-ups for children aged between 2 17 years under the Medicare Child Dental Scheme which covers dental services up to $1000 at no cost to the eligible families.

14.01.2022 ELLA This week for ELLA the children watched a short clip about japan and learnt about the theme parks they have over there in Disney land. The Wombats thought this was so awesome and enjoyed learning about all the rides they have and how it is that busy sometimes people dont even get to go on rides or see there favourite Disney characters. ... The children also enjoyed learning about the different types of food and animals and what each one is called. The children thought it was cool to see the types of food they have compared to us here in Australia and they were very surprised to see they had some of the same animals as us. The children enjoyed watching educational videos this week while learning all about Japan and their traditions.

13.01.2022 Employee of the Month At Elderslie ELC management has implemented a new rewards system for our wonderful staff. We are asking all of our families to vote for who they believe should be Employee of the month by writing the staff members name onto paper and placing it within the box.... At the end of the month the names with be tallied and the winning staff members will receive a generous gift card from management. This will occur every month and we ask for you to please only vote for one person a month.

13.01.2022 MINI MASTER CHEF This week for Mini Master Chef the Emus made delicious Muesli Slice. ... The Emus used their cognitive thinking and hand-eye coordination to measure the correct omg readiness and their fine motor skills to mix the mixture. Before placing it into the fridge to set. The Emu children had so much fun making the Muesli slice! Once the slice was baked and set the Emu children enjoyed eating their amazing creations, filled with oats, sultanas, honey and lots more yummy ingredients Cooking with kids provides practical experience with many essential skills such as reading, following directions, and measuring. Getting children involved in cooking helps to develop fine motor skills, eye hand coordination, and even early and simple concepts of math and science.

12.01.2022 MINI MASTER CHEF This week for Mini Master Chef the Emus made delicious Fruit kebabs.... The Emus used their cognitive thinking and hand-eye coordination to place the fruit precisely onto the kebab stick. The Emu children had so much fun making the Yummy fruit kebabs using all their favourite fruits. The Emu children then eating their yummy creations, for morning tea. Cooking with kids provides practical experience with many essential skills such as reading, following directions, and measuring. Getting children involved in cooking helps to develop fine motor skills, eye hand coordination, and even early and simple concepts of math and science.

10.01.2022 Just a reminder that lunchbox week starts next week, Monday 23rd to Friday 27th November 2020 for all the graduating Wombats of 2020. For the entire week Elderslie will be conducting ‘Bring your lunchbox to school week’. Each child will be encouraged to bring an empty lunch box and drink bottle to school in which we will fill each day with yummy nutritious foods. ... The children will be encouraged to open the foods independently and be taught easy ways to assist them with opening packet food to allow for a smooth transition to big school lunch times. 09.01.2022 Kangaroos School Readiness As the Kangaroos are focusing on their language skills for school readiness this month. The children participated this week in alphabet hunts through out the centre. The children displayed some fantastic letter recognition skills as they went for a walk through out the centre to find some letters. The children were very excited as they each pointed out different letters through out the centre and used their letter recognition skills to identify them to their friends and teachers.

09.01.2022 Superhero Week Elderslie ELC is showing there support and spreading awareness for Miscular Dystrophy this week! We encouraged all the children and staff to dress as their favoiourite superheros all week long.... National Superhero Week for Muscular Dystrophy is a week-long event in which people across Australia dress up as their favourite superhero to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy Australias programs, services and research. We loved seeing all of your superhero costumes through the the week! Thank you for participating.

08.01.2022 Weekly Wrap Up This week we got to watch our amazing Wombat children graduate!! What an amazing year it has been for the Wombats this year. Together as a class and each of us individually have achieved some many new accomplishments and milestones, including a couple of tooth fairy visits, learning to confidently write their own names, participating in classroom group games with rules and instructions, standing up in front of their friends and telling news, a...nd starting the orientation process to big school. It has been a crazy year that has flown by so fast, We have laughed, we have cried, we have danced, we have sung and above all we have had lots of fun, but we still have some more fun to go...... We are so proud of all the Wombat’s and all that they have achieved! It has been a very busy week for Elderslie ELC!

07.01.2022 To Our Families in the Wombat Room, Just a reminder that the STEPS Vision screening will be commencing on Tuesday 29th September at 9.30 am for all children attending school in 2021. On Storypark there is a copy of the STEPS Screening consent forms which can be filled out via computer. Hard copies of the forms will also be placed within your childrens bags. ... If parents could please complete consent forms asap to ensure we have adequate amount of participants for 2020. 05.01.2022 ELLA This week for ELLA, the Wombats revised everything that they have learnt so far. Throughout the week the children focused on their numbers by practicing their karate skills as they counted to 10 in Japanese. The children also focused on fruit throughout the week. The children practiced saying the names of lots of different fruits in Japanese.

04.01.2022 Kangaroos School Readiness This month for school readiness the children will be focusing on their language skills. As apart of school readiness this week the Kangaroo children enjoyed creating alphabet collages. ... Throughout the week the children helped Miss Amy, search through different magazines and find lots of different letters to cut out. Once enough letters had been cut out. It was time to make collages. The children put to use their fine motor skills as they grasp the glue sticks and applied the glue to their pages. They then used their letter recognition skills to identify the letters and stick them on the paper to create their alphabet collages.

04.01.2022 Wombats School Readiness This week for school readiness the Wombats are focusing on numeracy, but not just recognising and labelling their numbers, This week they are focusing on using their knowledge of numbers and writing the numbers. Throughout the week the children practiced a big school lesson. Firstly they sat together on the mat revising their number recognition of the number 1 to 20 and learning about writing the numbers with the correct formation. The ch...ildren also completed a number tracing worksheet throughout the week as a writing task. All the Wombats did extremely well in using their number recognition skills throughout the week!

04.01.2022 Wombats School Readiness This week for school readiness the Wombats are the learning about the letter sounds, X, Y, CH and SH. Throughout the week the Wombats practiced going through the Jolly Phonics Alphabet song with the children doing the different actions of each of the letter sound and also standing up when it was the letter that their name starts with. ... The children also participated in practicing each of the individual little songs and actions for the letters this week. As a class they are currently focusing there attention of our pronunciation of each of the sounds and doing the actions as they say the sound together. The children also completed tracing sheets in their school readiness booklets. All the children did extremely well in recognizing the different sounds and being able to pronounce them. The children thoroughly enjoyed in engaging with all the different educational activities for school readiness this week!
