24.01.2022 Weekly Wool Report, Sale Week 20 - Paul Noble This week’s 2-day sale saw a decrease of 4 cents to the Southern AWEX indicator which finished at 1149 cents. Just... when we thought we had some understanding of the sale pattern; the market does the opposite. There seems still to be some uncertainty in the wool market likely due to the ongoing pandemic. Prior to the pandemic the wool market was impacted by the trade war, were again, demand was decreased due to uncertainty. We are still waiting for more certainty and confidence to return to retail. Likely when borders re-open and trade returns to ‘normal’, the wool market will hopefully see a positive impact. Positively, wool in stock is not as great as the wool industry first predicted. Currently there are around 230,000 bales, not the 400,000 predicted. This is going to be a key factor in the recovery of the wool market, which hopes to increase by 20-30 cents next week. Sale Week 20: - 19,377 bales were offered for sale over the two days, Sale Week 20 - Passed in rates of 15.8% on Tuesday and 9.9% on Wednesday - The Southern Indicator over the 2-days decreased by 4 cents to finish at 1149 cents. If you would like to receive Paul's full wool report every Friday, with more on currency news and China as well as Paul’s own summary for the week - please call or email him on the details below to be added to this group. p: 0409 487 017 e: [email protected] Disclaimer: The information in this report is general in nature and has not been prepared taking into account your personal circumstances. 12.01.2022 Week 21 Wool Report - Paul Noble Welcome to my Weekly Wool Report for Sale Week 21. A two-day sale this week saw a price decrease of 24 cents for the Southern A...WEX indicator, finishing at 1125 cents. Tuesday, the market fell back and Wednesday we saw the market steady. Quite a lot of business was done after the sale and on Thursday. This leads me to think that they are expecting wool to rise and were attempting to buy wool at this week’s price levels. The wool market is steadily increasing in a yoyo fashion but ultimately while the pandemic is still present, it will only be a steady rise and maybe flattening out from time to time. You would expect the wool market to be in more positive territory in the next month or so with the recess approaching and their winter at its height soon. Greasy stocks are also at a low in China which is always encouraging. Until then, we wait for confidence to build again and the availability of the vaccine. The market is expected to show gains next week. Sale Week 21: 20,280 bales were offered for sale over the two days, Sale Week 21. Passed in rates of 17.1% on Tuesday and 19.6% on Wednesday. The Southern Indicator over the two days decreased by 24 cents to finish 1125 cents. 01.01.2022 Weekly Wool Report, Sale Week 19 - Paul Noble Welcome to my Weekly Wool Report for Sale Week 19. A two-day sale this week saw a price increase of 49 cents for t...he Southern AWEX indicator, finishing at 1153 cents. Due to the public holiday Tuesday, the 2-day sale was held Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday, the market saw great increases in all microns and descriptions and then on Thursday the market came back nearly half the gains as on Wednesday. My observation is the orders are mostly getting fulfilled on the 1st day of sale and the 2nd day there is still an abundance of wool, resulting in the competition weakening, discounted and wool passed in as reserves are not met. Wool trade or the offer board is a good tool to have wool for sale in the first sale day. A lot of people ask me about the tariffs being placed on Australian goods and is wool going to be one of them. Most of the tariffs that are being put in place are produce they can source from other parts of the world or can simply go without as they are a luxury item. Wool is one of the greatest Employers in China and the quality and quantity of wool we grow cannot be sourced anywhere else in the world. Middle class China is becoming more ethical on their purchases and there is increasing evidence they are going away from synthetics due to the environmental issues produced while processing them. Wool is the logical answer here. Sale Week 19: 17,810 bales were offered for sale over the two days, Sale Week 19. Passed in rates of 2.7% on Tuesday and 16.9% on Wednesday. The Southern Indicator over the two days increased by 49 cents to finish @1153 cents.
