24.01.2022 75 years ago on the 15th August Japan agreed to surrender. For Australians, it meant that the Second World War was finally over.

22.01.2022 A huge thank you to all who helped with set up, food prep and donations, dishwashing and also clean up. Also thank you to Crs Harvey Benton and Ashlee Fitzpatrick for joining the celebrations and to the Veteran Vintage & Classic Vehicle Club of Wangaratta for their great variety of cars on display and and for their generous donation. Surprise visitors to the Hall were four horses that were ridden in and tied up to the verandah railing. Cr Benton was delighted to present the Local Acheiver Award to Marg, Tony, Hamish. Bill and Jack Skermer.

18.01.2022 Maureen Hearn OAM - a total of 12 years as a Hall Committee member, 8 years as secretary. A passionate supporter of the Hall and an exemplary community member, you will be missed.

18.01.2022 Eldorado Community Cabaret Saturday 29 February - 7.30pm Many years ago, a Eldorado Community Concert was held at the Hall every second year. All the community groups were represented and performed either a skit, song, or dance etc. and occasionally some mimed. There were some wonderful talent. Most of the town came and afterwards socialized over a cuppa and supper. In 2009 the Hall Committee decided to bring back the Community Concert but in Cabaret format. It ha...s run every year since and a lot of fun and entertainment. It is no longer Community groups entertaining but people with vocal or musical talent. As before all money raised goes towards Hall maintenance and improvements.

13.01.2022 Leading up to next Saturday's Cabaret here is another early Community Concert photo. 'The Fire Bugs' consisted of CFA members Jim Buchan , John Bell, Gary Kerr [from the shop] and Bob Gentleman miming a couple of songs from that well known beatles group. John did a great job of miming the drums as local John Hearn who was a member of the Wangaratta Country Music Club asked if he wanted to play for them!! Bob confused some of the audience as they didn't understand why he had a net over his head - well because he was the ghost of John Lennon!!

12.01.2022 Although the Hall is closed due to Covid that doesn't mean nothing has been happening!

08.01.2022 Some fabulous early postcards of Eldorado

05.01.2022 The past few years have thrown fires, floods and storms at us, on top of drought and a pandemic. We want to hear from you! This is an opportunity for community ...members to debrief around the events of the past few years, and other emergency events that they might face. That information will help communities and Council determine what gaps exist when dealing with adverse events. It’ll also be an opportunity to talk to your local CFA, the Red Cross, SES, Headspace, Gateway Health, Into Our Hands and other local services about what they can do to help before, during, or after an emergency event. We’ll be holding sessions all around the Rural City to try and give you the best chance to come and have a chat to us. Coffee, tea and refreshments will be available, and booking is ESSENTIAL because of Covid. Please register your interest here: https://bit.ly/3cUzllm

03.01.2022 The very first Hall photo available is of the Gala Night Dance 10th August 1937. The Hall officially opened 16 months before. On 22 April 2016 its 80th birthday was celebrated. it was wonderful to have Geoff Milne cut the birthday cake. His father Jim Milne was a member of the original Hall committee and served as President for over 30 years.

02.01.2022 Hall 80th Birthday Celebrations - was a great night. There is a wonderful newspaper account of the opening held Wednesday 22 April 1936 detailing such things as the official attendees, toasts and dances etc. Luckily 80 years later it was a Friday. In 2016 this historic building was added to RCoW Heritage Overlay.... You are invited to join the new committee. Nominations close 5pm Friday 26 June. Information is available from either the Secretary or the RCoW website : https://www.wangaratta.vic.gov.au//coun/special-committees
